Bao & Bing

Bao & Bing Bao & Bing was an authentic Taiwanese restaurant located in Marylebone, London. Owned by Paul Sarlas and his wife, the restaurant served up a mouth-watering selection of dishes that captured the essence of Taiwan's reputation as the food capital of Asia. The unique concept was inspired by the couple's travels throughout Asia and featured traditional Taiwanese favorites alongside centuries-old family recipes. Upstairs, the dining room boasted an industrial design inspired by 50s and 60s subcultures, while a darker and more intimate tea room and cocktail bar were tucked away downstairs for a more relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, Bao & Bing is now permanently closed.

What people say

Taiwanese restaurants are known for their vibrant flavors and unique dishes, and Bao & Bing in Paddington Street, London is no exception. This authentic Taiwanese restaurant offers a mouth-watering selection of dishes that embrace the electric atmosphere of the buzzing night street markets of Taipei and Jiufen.

The menu at Bao & Bing is full of delicious dishes that highlight Taiwan's reputation as the food capital of Asia. The unique concept has been born out of the founder's passion for the Far East and his wife's local knowledge of dishes and ingredients, bringing centuries-old family recipes to the fore.

The upstairs dining room at Bao & Bing is industrially designed and inspired by 50s and 60s subcultures, with walls lined with a variety of Taiwanese ephemera collected over the founder's years of travelling throughout Asia. The dark and intimate tea room and cocktail bar downstairs provide a more relaxed, social drinking environment.

Some highlights from Bao & Bing's unique menu include their signature bao buns filled with succulent meats or vegetables, crispy fried chicken served with sweet chili sauce, and their famous beef noodle soup made with slow-cooked beef broth. Their bubble tea is also not to be missed - a refreshing drink made with milk tea and chewy tapioca pearls.

Overall, Bao & Bing offers an authentic taste of Taiwan in the heart of London. With its vibrant flavors, unique decor, and friendly staff, it's definitely worth a visit for anyone looking to experience something new in their dining adventures.
