Happy International Women’s Day from The Lighterman 💐 A few words from the powerful women who bring magic to our venue every day.

What’s the best part about managing The Lighterman?

Nina (General Manager): The best part is working with such a large, dynamic team. Everyone comes from different places around the world, bringing their own flair to the team and to the service. The shifts can be tough, especially in the summer, but the team’s positive, can-do attitude is always inspiring.

What do you think makes a truly memorable guest experience in hospitality?

Nina: Making the guest experience personal. We want the team to take ownership of the guests in their section and find new and exciting ways to exceed expectations and create everlasting memories.

Which woman inspires you the most in the hospitality industry, and why?

Nicole (Assistant Manager): Our very own GM, Nina! Aside from a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry, she brings an amazing passion and energy for hospitality to every shift that is truly contagious. It’s always great to see our team so excited for their day and that starts from the top! She supports and encourages everyone to be at their best and her positive mindset and motivation are a daily inspiration for me.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in hospitality?

Nicole: Make sure to work somewhere that encourages you to be yourself and supports you in achieving your goals. Also, try everything once! There are so many different pathways and careers in hospitality. Take an interest in everything and ask questions… you never know where it may lead.

If you were bringing a friend to The Lighterman for the first time, what would you tell them to order?

Nicole: Burrata with a side of sourdough (our homemade sourdough is underrated!) and medium-rare ribeye with béarnaise. Smoked and spiced margarita – an absolute winner on a sunny afternoon or a glass of Tinted Glasses Rosé – our own very fresh and very elegant rosé.
