Step into an evening of rhythm, tradition, and timeless sound at Kismet Art Café.

On 6 June, we welcome acclaimed oud player Yaz Fentazi alongside master percussionist Karim Dellali for a live performance rooted in the rich musical traditions of North Africa and the Arab world.

Blending the hypnotic grooves of Gnawa, the warmth of Chaabi, and the elegance of Andalusian music, the duo creates a musical journey that feels both deeply traditional and vibrantly alive. Influenced by jazz and blues, their performance moves between soulful improvisation, intricate rhythms, and moments of pure atmosphere.

Yaz Fentazi’s music has been praised by The Guardian for its “breadth and atmosphere,” noting that his oud playing recalls “the drive and dynamism of world oud star Anouar Brahem.”

Whether you are already in love with traditional music or discovering these sounds for the first time, this promises to be a special evening of culture, rhythm, and artistry in the heart of East London.

From June, along our standard Kismet Board Games, we are introducing new community games to Kismet community. This time, they will happen on Saturdays during daytime, to accommodate those who can’t join on working days and seats are limited - as we want to provide platform to people to get to know each other better. These games are perfect for:

* meeting new people naturally
* building confidence and communication skills
* learning strategy and negotiation
* laughing, debating, accusing, defending, forming alliances… and betraying them five minutes later
* experiencing a room where everyone is actively involved together

Dear Kismet community,

As we continue building Kismet sustainably and intentionally, we’re making a small change to our opening hours.

Kismet Café will now be open daily from 11am–6pm for regular café service.

Our evening ticketed events, workshops, performances, and gatherings will continue as normal, and on event nights we’ll stay open later.

This shift allows us to focus our energy on growing Kismet thoughtfully, while continuing to create the atmosphere, programming, and community that make this space special.

Thank you for being part of it all.

HEART STRINGS - Immersive experience

Step into an intimate evening where music, poetry, rhythm and live visual art meet in one immersive experience.

Heart Strings brings together artists from different traditions and disciplines for a night of deep listening, reflection, improvisation and emotional resonance - weaving Persian, Middle Eastern and spoken-word influences into a living artistic conversation.

Throughout the evening, sound and image unfold together in real time: breath through the ney, pulse through the daf, stories through spoken word, and live visual art emerging before the audience’s eyes.

Featuring

Abdullah Mufa — Daf / Ney / Voice
A multi-disciplinary musician and vocalist blending rhythm, breath and voice into soulful sonic journeys inspired by devotional and traditional musical forms.

Sherazade — Spoken Word
A storyteller and spoken-word artist bringing poetry, reflection and powerful narrative into the space.

Hamed Eazadi — Tar from Shiraaz
A tar player carrying the rich heritage of Persian classical music through expressive melodies and intricate improvisation.

Samir Malik — Visual Artist
Creating live visual works throughout the evening, responding to the atmosphere, sound and emotion of the performances.

Expect an evening that feels part concert, part gathering, part artistic ritual - intimate, atmospheric and deeply human.
