Recognized as the largest fresh water swimming pool in the UK, it provides an inviting space for public enjoyment. In addition to the pool, visitors can take advantage of the Pavilion, a versatile 100m² sports studio available for hire, ideal for workouts and exercise classes while overlooking the Lido. We would be delighted to welcome you to our event to celebrate the paperback release of Richard Waters’ inspiring memoir, Swimming with the Viking of Skye.

The event will also include a Q&A and a signing. Swimming with the Viking of Skye will be on sale at the event.

When Rich Waters was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s and soon after learned his young daughter faced a devastating neurological condition, his world narrowed overnight. Searching for something that could steady him, he found himself drawn to the raw landscape and icy pools of the Isle of Skye, where cold water offered a rare kind of quiet.

Please note all £5 entry fees will be donated to Parkinson’s UK.

Outdoor Swim Opportunity: between 10am -2:30pm

+ £10 per swimming ticket

To echo the message in Rich’s book, the healing power of outdoor swimming, we would also love you to join us for an outdoor swim at the lido, should you wish to. You are welcome to swim before or after the event. Tickets to be purchased in advance.

Places Leisure has been chosen as the preferred operator for St Annes Swimming Pool!📍🏊

Fylde Council has selected us to bring fresh investment and exciting improvements to Fylde's Community!

With £1.9 million already promised for essential works at St Annes Pool, we can't wait to welcome new swimmers and those who already love swimming here.🌟

Jayne Nixon, Councillor and Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture said "Places Leisure really understand what our community needs, and their plans will deliver swimming provision we can all be proud of."

Final details will be confirmed by the end of January 2026 but in the meantime current members can continue to enjoy the facilities as usual under the YMCA until 31 March 2026.
