Six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard is one of popular music’s most accomplished producers and songwriters, whose records have sold more than one hundred and fifty million copies worldwide.

Ballard wrote original lyrics and music for GHOST the Musical which debuted in 2011 and has since been touring worldwide and ahead of the show’s return to the West End for a one night only concert, Glen answered some questions for us!

Starring Mary Bridget Davies and Sharon Sexton as Janis, this multi award-winning show is an extraordinary musical journey paying homage to Janis Joplin and her biggest musical influences.

Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the queen of rock & roll. The unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made her a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock.

Fuelled by such unforgettable songs as “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart”, “Mercedes Benz”, “Cry Baby” and “Summertime”, a remarkable cast and breakout performances. A Night with Janis Joplin, written and directed by Randy Johnson, is a musical journey celebrating Janis and her biggest musical influences—icons like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith, who inspired one of rock ‘n roll’s greatest legends.

A Night with Janis Joplin launched in 2011, touring successfully for 2 years and breaking box office records. In October 2013, it opened on Broadway to rave reviews and has continued touring in US ever since. The show also had a successful run in Japan in 2022. Mary Bridget Davies who plays the role of Janis Joplin, received a Tony Award® nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Sharon Sexton is an award-winning West End performer and internationally renowned vocalist. She has most recently completed the International tour and West End run of Bat Out of Hell The Musical, where she reprised the role of Sloane, which she originated in 2017. She will share the role of Janis with Mary. Mary will perform the role at all the evening performances, while Sharon will perform the role at all of the matinee performances.*

To reach the coffee shop located at Arches Lane in London, you can take public transportation by taking the tube to the nearest station or bus stop. Option 1: Take the tube to Bank Station, then walk for around 10 minutes to reach the destination. Option 2: Take a bus that stops at Monument Station and walk for around 12 minutes.

If driving, take the A3211 road and turn onto Fish Street Hill, which will lead you to Lower Thames Street. Turn left onto Monument Street and continue onto Great Tower Street until you reach Arches Lane. There are several parking options nearby, including Q-Park Tower Bridge or NCP Car Park London Vintry Thames Exchange.
