Well Street's Sunlight Caribbean Restaurant received a Heart of Gold Award at the Well Street People's Festival on July 31. Cllr Ian Rathbone, giving the citation, said:
"Despite the economic hardships many businesses on Well Street have endured during and post COVID, and after The Regent’s Chapel’s soup kitchen was forced to close (Storehouse London) - you came to their rescue and opened your kitchens to supply free meals for the homeless on a Wednesday.
Furthermore, you supplied free lunch time meals for school children.
We are proud to be able to celebrate businesses like yours, who have worked tirelessly to support the community during and post pandemic.
Well done on this achievement. We hope this accolade demonstrates how much you are valued."
He handed over a framed certificate (see below) ...

This amazing Caribbean restaurant in Hackney has been giving to our soup kitchen for five years.
Over the years they have also provided jobs for four of our homeless service users through our Parth, Plan, Project, employment scheme. (PPP).
They're currently employing one of our homeless friend who've been working at the restaurant for over one year right through the pandemic.
We couldn't be more proud to be collaborating with this legendary restaurant with their charitable work in the community!
