Wait… New Year? And time travel?!
While most of us toasted the New Year a few months ago, it turns out we get another go!
Nepalese New Year, Naya Barsha, is here, marking the start of the year 2083 in the Bikram Sambat calendar.
It falls on Tuesday, April 14, this year and the Annapurna team would like to wish you a very happy New Year… take two!
In Nepal, Naya Barsha heralds public holidays, vibrant festivals, family gatherings, picnics, and plenty of celebrations. In East Sheen, it is a little less dramatic with business as usual.
The Bikram Sambat calendar, Nepal’s official solar calendar, runs about 56.7 years ahead of the Gregorian one – hence why we suddenly find ourselves transported to 2083!
However you mark it, it is all about fresh starts, good company, and a reason to celebrate. And honestly, who could say no to another excuse to celebrate New Year?
नयाँ वर्षको शुभकामना
Naya Barsha ko Shubhakamana
is pronounced roughly: na-yaa bar-sha ko shub-ka-ma-na 🎉

What’s lean, nutritious & bursting with flavour? 🐐✨
Goat meat! It’s a well kept secret but if you’ve never tried it, now is your chance. We think you’ll like it.
⭐️ Naturally lower in calories, fat and cholesterol than beef, pork, lamb and even chicken, goat meat is high in protein, rich in iron and potassium, and lower in sodium, making it a wholesome choice that packs an incredible taste punch.
🥘And the flavour? Think lamb with a deeper, slightly richer character - comforting, aromatic and fabulous in slow cooking, which is where our delicious Dotti Ko Khasi comes in.
Our new, yet deeply traditional, slow-cooked goat meat curry is inspired by the bold, rustic flavours of Western Nepal.
The dish is gently simmered with warming spices until the meat becomes oh, so tender and infused with deep, comforting flavour.
In Western Nepal, Dotti Ko Khasi is a celebratory dish - rich, aromatic and made to be shared.
🩷 We’re so happy to be bringing this little bit of heritage and celebration to your table!
🤔 Curious? Come and give it a try – you won’t regret it 🍛✨

Introducing truly magnificent new vegetarian and vegan jackfruit dish - Jakfruit Tarkari 🌿✨
Jackfruit is a superstar in Nepalese cooking. When it’s young and green, its tender, shredded texture soaks up spices beautifully, making it the perfect plant-based carrier of classic flavours🇳🇵
Not only is it delicious, it’s naturally high in fibre, Vitamin C and potassium, supports digestion and heart health, and has a low glycemic index to help keep blood sugar steady. Plus, it offers a satisfying, protein-rich alternative to meat.
Bold spices. Vibrant flavours. Feel good food. Come and try it! 🍛💛

On January 8, Hari Budha Magar made history when he became the first ever double above-the-knee amputee to successfully summit the highest peaks on all seven continents.
Not only is this an incredible achievement, but it is also a major landmark in Hari’s mission to create awareness of disability and ‘inspire others to climb their own mountain, whatever that might be,’ and redefine what they believe is possible.
We were deeply honoured to have had Hari talk to us about his dream and the challenges he has faced when he visited back in April 2024 and we’d now like to help him to complete another mission – to raise £50,000 for five charities that have helped and supported him.
He has just over £2,500 to go! If you’d like to help, the link to his GiveWheel page is here: https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/5346/hari-budha-magar-7-summits-charity-appeal/
These are the charities that the funds will be split between:
Gurkha Welfare Trust – providing financial, medical and development aid to Gurkha veterans, their families and communities
BLESMA – dedicated to assisting serving and ex-service men and women who have suffered life changing injuries
Pilgrim Bandits – a small military charity that helps and supports servicemen and women who have been injured or wounded
On Course Foundation – whose aim it is to support the recovery of injured and sick service personnel and veterans through golf
Team Forces – a programme that helps to fund sport, challenge and adventure in the armed forces

Our chefs have been busy cooking up some new tastebud-tingling delicious and delightful dishes, just for you!
Always using the freshest of ingredients, we’ve included some more traditional Nepalese dishes - such as Thali - and others that we think you’ll enjoy as much as we did in testing.
The thing they have in common? They’re all delicious and worthy of a place on our dine -n and takeaway menus AND on your plate.
You’ll find new starters, tandoori specialities, Nepalese favourites with great names like Ledo-Bedo Khukhura, seafood specialities, vegan dishes and sides, too.
We’ll tell you more on here soon but if you can’t wait, why not book a table or order in?

Dry January (if you’re doing it) doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a good night out and a spirit lifting curry!
To help you stay dry (despite the weather!) two of our favourite brands - Tanqueray Gin and Cobra - offer alcohol-free options and we think they taste great. We also offer alcohol-free wine.
Why not come and try them for yourself? And obviously treat yourself to a great Annapurna curry at the same time!
See you soon.
