When the colours are choosen for the restaurant we only have two things in mind: memories and heritage.

Our restaurant is a home away from home, we serve the food made by women in their home kitchens.

At our place, we honour the heritage of our entire kitchen team, from the food of grand dawaats (feasts) to street food.

We always wanted our restaurant to be a place where you could put your burden down. A place to be nourished and healed. A homecoming

It is like going back to school- in our case our early |upperclub and pop-up days. Do any of you remember the masala peanuts we used to serve in our Supperclub and at Sun & 13 Cantons?

We also made a new snack- with makhana (popped lotus seed)- Asma’s grandmother was from Bihar and she would get bags of this when she was young. She has recreated a makahana recipe from memory. Another recipe from her Ammu coming to the Rupert Street site.

invites you to her table. This dessert is deeply personal- made by Asma’s mother every Eid morning. Made with basil seed, nuts, chuwara (dried dates) - garnished with almond and pistachio

The past few weeks at Darjeeling Express have been intense taste testing for our new menu in Rupert Street.

We are moving to a larger home just a few minutes from Kingly Court, near Piccadilly Circus. The new Rupert Street site gives us the space we have long needed, especially in the kitchen, and we cannot wait to begin sharing some new dishes with you.

We are starting with something unapologetically indulgent. Our bread pakora. Carbs on carbs, just as it should be. Stuffed, dipped in batter, and deep fried until golden, served with chutney on the side.

Bangs for your buck, and worth every bite. Book now through our website- Rupert Street will be open from the 1st of June.
