Something that really makes us chuckle. Our almost daily messages from a regular (who has become a friend), Gavin ♥️.
When he started coming in and seeing me on my laptop, he’d always laugh and call me a “corporate vegan”.
Now he brings his own laptop into The Sound Lounge to do his work. And sends me messages just with the words “Corporate Vegan Club”…or most recently it’s been abbreviated to CVC.
Gavin is definitely not vegan…and he doesn’t look too corporate to me. But he clearly gets the work done 🤣 and makes me laugh.
If you want to join the corporate vegans, we have plenty of plug points and wifi is of course free 💚
If you see Gavin, you know what to call him 😆🌱🥕

This by Josh & Harry just made us die!!!! Sooo funny 🤣!
But also REALLY informative 🤓
is now TWICE a month. Because we are always so over-subscribed and performers don’t always get a chance to perform.
So now with an extra session a month run by Josh, we can give everyone their moment on our stage. Great sound, full stage lighting, lovely audience!!!

Just HAD to share this photo from one of our engineers, Ben, after he spent the day doing sound at the carshaltonecofair.
Ben came to us a couple of years ago, he’d been going through a really hard time. He started doing some shadowing on sound and was almost instantly recognised as being a total natural. Before too long we asked him if he’d take on a night by himself as a freelancer. He told us he couldn’t quite believe we were asking him. He was amazing.
Fast forward a couple of years and Ben is one of the most exceptional engineers we have known! He’s managed nights for some of our most prestigious artists and was even personally requested by one of them, to do his sound in a big London venue.
Ben sent Keir a message about running the sound for a stage at the (brilliant) EcoFair this bank holiday weekend, and he was buzzing. He said:
“It’s taken about 10 years to get from so anxious and terrified i nearly had a panic attack and had to leave”.
He went on:
“My inner child is very happy 😊
It’s funny how looking back, this is what I always wanted to do.
I used to have little toy mic and speakers and took them apart to see how they worked, and hooked them all up together to make my own sound system 😅”
Ben you are a TOTAL INSPIRATION 🌟 Thank you for being such a treasured part of The Sound Lounge ♥️. We love you a lot!

In the meantime we thought we’d share cause for ENORMOUS optimism in the natural world to begin the new term with for a boost 💚

1. A HUGE $200million project called ‘The Phoenix Species Project; has been launched to recover 100 of the world’s most endangered species 🌎 this will see plant, bird, mammal and sea life restoration happening AT SCALE!
2. The Western Indonesian Orangutan 🦧 is returning to the wild after decades of preparation!
3. in New-Zealand, 5 new marine reserves have been established, co-managed with Mãori communities and the NZ government. A model for conservation AND social growth ♥️
4. A huge programme has been launched to restore and connect fragmented and rare habitat across the Florida coast which will be amazing for sea and plant life and even for land mammals (as everything is connected 💚)
5. Vultures have returned to France where focus on landscape restoration has been happening in a big way! Vultures are a keystone species which means their presence will attract more biodiversity, life and restore natural ecological processes!
6. In Italy over 500,000 hectares have been connected through ecological corridors allowing Marsican brown bears and other wildlife to travel safely (which makes their viability as a species so much stronger!) 👇
7. PLUS over 10km of river were connected when a dam was removed, with 8,000 crayfish and 4,000 trout reintroduced 🦞🐟
8. In Somerset, images have shown where there are beavers living, there has been natural protection against wild fires. This is a HUGE (and potentially very cheap) opportunity for us when it comes to preparing for the summers ahead ☀️ We have the answers
9. In Kazhakstan, in a world-first, a tiger has been reintroduced after they were hunted to extinction, the last one killed in 1948. They hope to have a stable population of 50 by 2035!! A forest has literally been planted to recreate lost habitat for them. This, after Przewalski horses were returned to their ancestral homeland. It’s a glorious rebuilding of lost wildlife.
10. A Scottish wildcat, introduced in 2024 was spotted swimming in the River Spey by people in canoes 🛶 beautiful!

Hannah White and Keiron Marshall will be playing live THIS SATURDAY. It’s a night to support the venue because this summer, with everyone understandably hiding away from the heat, has been really tough.
So we hope you’ll come and join us 💫 bring your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. We will be so happy to see you ♥️🤘

Last week we:
* Ran with Time Out Youth for 20 x children from food insecure backgrounds. They made their own juices and fresh sandwiches.
* Hosted our ~ weekly community kitchen where anyone can come and or ♥️ for a nutritious meal
* had 6 x bands play . Local Sutton rock bands to Nebraska USA artist (and actor from the film A Chance Encounter) singing Songs of Hope and Change.
* Put on our - community music unplugged. Everyone and anyone can turn up and play or sing. We had banjos, Irish whistle, fiddle, guitars, mandolins, bodhrans…and so many voices.
We also ran Shake ‘n’ Sing - free music for little ones (Fridays from 10:30am).
PLUS we delivered our food and coffee service.
With one foot in front of the other 🦶….
THANK YOU to everyone who has popped in to buy coffee, lunch or dinner with us. And to every single person who has come to a gig.
This evening from 7pm we are hosting a meet-up as a follow-up from our National Emergency Briefing screening. Everyone is welcome

We know it’s really hot!
This morning Shake ‘n’ Sing IS on from 10:30am with Hannah & Keiron. We have ice-cold smoothies and iced coffees-a-plenty….but also there is no obligation to buy. If you have been stuck at home with little ones, bring them down for some music and enjoy a break.
Last week, Will and Dean, our local police, came down to enjoy the songs as well ♥️. It was an absolute highlight to welcome the guys…and see these big burley policemen singing along and doing the actions 🤩🕺👮♂️
