At Host Café you can purchase a suspended coffee for £3. This is a tradition that originated in Naples, Italy, where people would pay for 2 coffees but have only one. This allowed for someone else in need to have a coffee for free. It is now used in cafés all over the world including here! We regularly give free food and drink to those who need it and the suspended coffee scheme helps us continue to offer this daily. Thank you to everyone who contributes!☕️💙

What people say
Host Café, located on Watling Street in London, is not just your regular coffee shop. It is an enterprise set up by the Moot Community in 2012 and offers a unique experience to its customers. The peaceful setting of the café, underneath a stunning Christopher Wren vaulted ceiling, makes it an ideal spot for enjoying exquisite coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, soup & bread and vegan paté at lunch times.
What sets Host Café apart from other coffee shops is their commitment to serving only the best quality products. They serve Mission Coffee Works and artisan cakes along with fresh pastries and sandwiches. For lunchtime options, they have two food stalls on their doorstep whose delicious souvlakis and burritos you can combine with a drink from them.
Host Café also welcomes people who like to bring in their own food from outside and are looking for a quiet pew to take their lunch break. Besides running the café inside St Mary Aldermary Church, they hire out the building as a venue for concerts, poetry evenings, meetings, art exhibitions, charity events and so on.
If you're interested in booking an evening at St Mary Aldermary or attending an event there keep an eye on their events page or contact them at [email protected].
Overall Host Café provides a unique experience that combines great coffee with a peaceful setting making it perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing break during their busy day.
