Kicking off our new brunch menu is this Lobio, Poached Egg with Bread for soaking up all that goodness.
from
Right.... this ones a special one for me, Lobio is a bean stew from Georgia, Where my dad's family are from, its for sure a celebration of beans, half of the beans are mashed into the broth and half left whole, its sour from vinegar and the fenugreek which also has an earthy bitterness (believe me thats a positive not a negative). To me this is nostalgia on a plate, one of the earliest things I remember eating, cooked for me by my nan. My thinking here was to translate that nostalgia into brunch, brunch gives me that Georgian family meal feeling, and nothing is more brunch than Eggs and bread to mop it up, Think Georgian shakshouka.
Anyway sentiment out the way this bangs and its on our new all day brunch menu at 😅
