This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re thinking about mums. ❤️
Motherhood is wonderful and hard and overwhelming and joyful, sometimes all before 9am. And in those early months especially, it can feel incredibly lonely.
Apple Tree Children Cafe was built by a mum who felt exactly that. When her first child was born she went looking for somewhere calm, welcoming and genuinely designed for both the little ones and the grown-ups who love them. Somewhere with proper coffee, a friendly face and a place to breathe.
She couldn’t find it and she built it.

Hi everyone, I’m Emily, and these are my twins.
I created Apple Tree Children Cafe when my eldest daughter was born. I love our local area, but at the time I really struggled to find welcoming places to take her where she could play, explore and just be herself.
I’m a primary school teacher, and Apple Tree was built very much with early years development in mind. Everything we do is centred around learning through play, in a calm, thoughtful environment that works for both children and parents.
At our Peckham café, we have a sensory room filled with lights, textures and sounds.
At Herne Hill, we have a beautiful themed role-play area that changes every week: this week it’s a teddy bear picnic.
We’re a relaxed space for little ones to explore, and we also host children’s parties at weekends.If you’re local and looking for something to do with babies, toddlers or preschoolers, we’d love to welcome you. Message us if you have any question.
