What a splendid time we all had last Monday, celebrating British Cider Week with an enthusiastic and thirsty crowd, under the expert tutelage of our very own Alison Taffs. With a spectacular lineup of delicious ciders from several remarkable producers, including and others, we really did get under the (apple) skin of this delectable liquid! Do pop to the Hop to explore our fantastic range of cider and perry and marvel at the alchemy of this great heritage of ours!

Last night we officially launched the 2026! ✨

Havering’s vibrant business community came together for an evening of networking and celebration, with local enterprises, past winners, sponsors and partners all in the room.

It was a great opportunity to reflect on the incredible work happening across the borough and to hear more about this year’s awards programme.

The countdown is now on - nominations open on Monday 23 March, giving businesses and residents the chance to recognise the small businesses in the borough!

A spirited Bottle of Brandy on the Bar this week from

Distilled beneath the railway arches in Walthamstow, this is a modern, small-batch spirit, made with traditional techniques.
Every drop is distilled from wine, aged in E17, and delivers tons of flavour: rich fruit, butterscotch, soft spice and beautifully silky sipped neat.

We are very sad to hear about the passing of an inspiring beer friend of The Hop: the incredible and knowledgeable Des de Moor. We were lucky to meet Des when he visited us during lockdown and he joined us and our guests for beer tastings. Des was endlessly enthusiastic and full of beer joy and interesting information. His book Cask, published by CAMRA is always on our bookshelf and a highly recommended read. Thanks for everything Des. We will raise a glass to you and our thoughts are with your friends and loved ones.
