Full Fat

Full Fat Full Fat, a café located on Chestnut Grove, was known for its delicious chapattis, coffee, and wholesome food. The business had been operating for over a decade, initially starting as a tent outside the Balham station before expanding to include cafes in the nearby area. However, it was announced on social media in May 2023 that the stall outside Balham station would be permanently closed to focus on the cafes. Despite this change, Full Fat expressed gratitude to their loyal customers and looked forward to welcoming them at their cafe locations. Note: Full Fat has been permanently closed.

Join us for an exhibition of two perfectly ripe artists.

Cara Chase is a life long artist and graphic designer. Her work has been displayed in Full Fat since we opened and has been integrated into our branding over the years. All her drawings are from real life instances. She expertly captures the essence of her subjects, normally in an impossibly short space of time before they move on - no better exemplified than in the commissions of children she’s done in the café! Now’s your chance to get your hands on some originals as well as some prints from the Balham and Brixton famous drawings.

Juliet Bawden is an artist who rediscovered her love of art during Covid and has been producing work, at a rate of knots, since. Her Instagram () is awash with colourful still lifes, portraits and landscapes. Living in Tooting, Juliet is one of our original regulars, frequenting our stall outside Balham tube station since 2013 on a weekly basis. Her energy was immediately apparent to us both and I have loved keeping up to date with her numerous creative endeavours over the years. One of which, bespoke wallpapers - - will also be on display at the exhibition!

We will be serving drinks on Friday and Saturday evening so please come down to say hello and have a look at the stellar work, bringing your cheque books (joking, we will not be accepting cheques!). Please feel free to invite anyone - this is not a private event and the space is enormous.

Finally, a massive thank you to for lending us the amazing space, right on the river overlooking St Paul’s - if you haven’t been to one of their shows yet, what the hell have you been doing for the last 10 years?!

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce we will be closing our doors for the final time at both locations on Saturday 23rd December 2023.

Unfortunately our product/concept is not quite robust enough to withstand the pressures of the UK economy at the moment, costs have soared drastically over the last 12 months or so. That coupled with increased competition, especially in Balham (that bloody Pret subscription!), has eradicated our already quite small profit margins and has meant we can no longer survive.

We'd like to thank all the amazing customers we've served over the years.

The customers in Balham, some of whom I've known for 10 years, have become more like friends than customers, thank you so much for everything over the years. It's been a pleasure getting to know you all. Watching kids grow up eating chapattis and adults just getting older (😂) has been wonderful. Luckily for you, Renaz from Seventeen Fish and Chips will be taking over the site and will be offering a relatively similar fare, so you should be able to get your bacon and egg fix on the go!

And to all the lovely early adopters in Brixton we cannot be grateful enough for the support you've shown us in our first year. We're so sorry it has ended so quickly, we planned on being there for a very long time (as I hope you can tell from the effort gone into the fit out!) but the timing just wasn't right.

I'd also like to thank all the amazing 30+ people I've employed over the year! Some lasted longer than others! The ones who stuck around a bit longer I'm extremely grateful (you know who you are!) And the fantastic team I have at the moment, you're all great! ☺️

And finally, another shout out to my lovely mam (and family in general) and my lovely Mrs, who have supported me and the business wholeheartedly over the last decade ❤️

Ok, bye now. See you in the cafes over the next couple of months hopefully!

Almost exactly 10 years ago we started serving the lovely people of Balham chapattis from our tent outside the station.

Here are some photos from our opening weekend!

The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that we haven’t reopened the stall since Christmas. In an effort to make the Balham location more viable as a whole we have decided to close the stall permanently and focus on our cafes.

If you’re reading this then you already know we have a cafe 30 meters from the old stall site and now one in Brixton but if there’s anyone you know that used to go to the stall that somehow doesn’t know about the cafes please let them know!

Thank you to all our customers who supported the stall over the last decade (🤯)!

We look forward to seeing you in the cafe ☺️
