In our match against Coventry, Mikel Merino came on for Kai Harvetz instead of Gyökeres.

Every time a player has turned Arsenal down, we’ve somehow ended up with a replacement that worked out brilliantly.

Vlahović rejected us → we got Gabriel Jesus.
Mudryk chose Chelsea → we got Leandro Trossard.
Lisandro Martínez chose Man United → we got Jurrien Timber.
Šeško turned us down → we got Viktor Gyökeres.

And the replacements have gone on to win the league with Arsenal while most of the players who rejected us have had their own struggles.

Vlahović’s career has stalled badly.
Mudryk… well, we all know what happened there.
Martínez has had to deal with recurring injury problems.
Šeško is now fighting for regular starts at Manchester United.

At this point, Arsenal fans should stop worrying when a player says no.

Let them reject us. We’ll probably end up with someone better.
