COMMUNITY, SUPPORT, COMPASSION, STRENGTH, RECOVERY
Yesterday morning I went to see the NOVA exhibition. I had also booked a food event at JW3 in the evening. I was planning to go to work in between but all I could do after visiting the NOVA exhibition was to go home, eat a bagel with chicken and harissa mayo that I topped up with the largest glass of red wine at 1pm! I ate, drunk, went to bed and fell asleep crying non stop after visiting this exhibition
YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE NOVA EXHIBITION
even if it’s the hardest thing.
I woke up, worked and went to listen to amazing people talking about food, Jewish identity, Jewish food and LOVE was all around both events, hugging people all day and evening for different reasons.
I LOVE BEEING JEWISH FOR ALL THIS RESILIENCE WE HAVE:
COMMUNITY, SUPPORT, COMPASSION, STRENGTH, RECOVERY

I decide to stay positive and optimistic about the future, naive and happy, with my schnitzels at least despite the atrocities that are happening in London in my doorstep against my community !

Dear B…,
I hope you are well.
I’m sorry I haven’t written to you for so long.
I’m sorry I came out of the WhatsApp group without explanation when you wanted to meet for a drink and laugh and catch up on 7th October last year. Date that is only a date for you, for me a date that strikes differently for obvious reasons.
I’m sure the date didn’t strike you… but to me it felt you were doing it on purpose to meet in that day and have a drink.
Was I stupid? Paranoid? Possibly but I felt too upset, too weak, too angry to explain myself. We were colleagues, we became friends. You supported me during my divorce taking me in your arms when I was sobbing in the morning before class. Thank you, you have no idea how much you helped.
We had our exchanges at time about what was happening in Israel, in Gaza and the Middle East. I knew you were going to the marches in London to show your support to Palestinian which I respected until the day you told me you felt it was normal for charity money to be sent more to Gaza as Jews had money and were supporting each other so much they didn’t need more financial support. I chose to still work with you, for you, because I liked you and respected you as a person and my crazy amazing teacher you were and chose to stop communicating about this, be professional and work with our kids in our class, supporting and teaching them.
After what happened in Golders Green yesterday, I feel numb as a Jew living in London, I feel scared and drained.
You didn’t reach out yesterday and I feel you should have.
Hope you are well.
Fabienne

Tomorrow is Holocaust Memorial Day, Yom Hashoah when we remember the 6 millions Jews killed by the N***s and all the victims of the Holocaust.
We light a candle tonight with the name of one of the people who were deported and killed.
The candles are distributed randomly by partner with and are given in a closed box.
Elie my son brought me this candle from his school
Look at the family name, Luzzatto, my name.

Twenty four years ago I arrived in London in the UK to start a new life. I was so proud to be in London that I considered one of the most tolerant cities in Europe, where people would express and respect everyone’s views and religions. I felt proud and safe as a Jewish person. People were asking me if the antisemitism was as worst in France as media was describing it and I would think it was. Today, things have suddenly shifted; I don’t feel as safe and I don’t feel as proud to live here. Despite my pride of my Judaism, I hide my identity in some circumstances, I avoid talking, I don’t recognise myself. People have asked me why I was so affected by what happened in Bondi, Australia this week, if I knew any of the victims… well, yes they were all my family, why can’t you understand?
Bring more light into this world, pray for more peace and understanding that we are, as Jews, a small community and are all connected.

As it’s Shabbat tomorrow and also my birthday 🎂I just wanted to share a message I received from a dear friend of mine, only my Rebettzen from who took this picture on Wednesday night at the launch of her new book « A new year in every sense » that explains how you can choose success through the five senses!
I never really cared to celebrate my birthday, my children get more excited than me…
Not sure if it’s a British thing but I love how celebrating the privilege to get one year older is taken very seriously in the UK!
Getting older IS a privilege and celebrating your health and being able to receive and give love to people around you who deserve it is a blessing I’m grateful for!
Next step for me, being stronger, getting wiser and less naive (even at 52!), stop the self-doubt, and becoming even more resilient than I am now, to carry on helping around me, my kids and people who I love and love me back!
« Beautiful Fabienne, just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday for tomorrow. Not sure if i will see you in person so just wanted you to feel our love from the whole of family levene x x Just know what a shining light you are in our lives and in so many others. Hope you feel all the love that you radiate come back to you in abundance x x xx x You are honestly 1 in a million. Just love from us all x x
Shabbat shalom and happy birthday to me for tomorrow!

I love fruits and fig is one of my favourite!
When and my friend, food editor asked me to come up with a recipe for Rosh Hashanah I wanted to use this season’s delicious fruit marrying it with everyone’s favourite autumn dessert, a crumble.
The recipe in now online and it will be in the paper this coming Thursday!

And… It’s a wrap!
When you ask your travel agent friend if she’s ever been to Budapest 🇭🇺 and if she would you like to come with you and says yes… well, it’s happening and not only this… I didn’t have to worry about organising anything! Such a treat! She’s a gem of a friend and a gem of a travel agent!
So well organised, we packed so much in three days/two nights!
