Angela from our Charlton store is backing England to go all the way in the football this summer .... but she'll be rooting for her nephew Antoine Semenyo when he takes to the pitch tonight for Ghana against Harry Kane and co.
Angela said: "We are all so proud of Antoine, he's a brilliant footballer. We all support him and have always encouraged him. He could have played for England, but Ghana called on him first! I think Ghana will win tonight – 1-0, hopefully with Antoine scoring. Although I hope Ghana win tonight I do think England will go on and win the tournament. But, you know, it's just a game, it's a bit of fun and we are having a lot of fun in store with the football."
Asda Charlton's community champion Karlee said: "It's always fun in store when we have a football tournament on the go. Everyone is allowed to wear their chosen country's football tops. We have such a variety of colleagues from different nationalities supporting their teams. It's great to see everyone back their home teams and wear their tops with pride, but I'll be shouting 'Come on England!'"

Happy Father's Day to dads everywhere – including Ranu, Dave, George, Kevin and Chris who all work alongside their sons and daughters at our Rawtenstall store.
Ranu, who works with his son Sam, said: "It’s really good working alongside Sam. Customers know that we are related and we look alike, except that I've got a grey beard! It's so nice when customers say how kind and helpful he is, as that make me feel proud." Andy, who first worked for Asda in 1979, works with his son George, who's working part time while studying. He said: "A lot of the colleagues and customers know we are related and some of the colleagues here even remember him being born!"
Chris and his son Ethan both work on produce. Chris said: “Working with Ethan for the last seven years has been one of the best parts of my Asda career. We have made some nice memories and friends together and had lots of laughs along the way." Home shopping driver Dave works with his daughter Keira. He said: "I always pop up to see her before I go home on a Sunday. This Father’s Day will be no different, we will both be working but it will be lovely to see her through the day so I don’t have to wait until we've both finished." And security colleague Kevin works with his daughter Katie, who said: "It's very comforting as I know my dad's there whenever I need him, and to lighten up my day with his jokes!"
We hope they all have a wonderful day.

When Carrie from our Pudsey store spotted an elderly customer getting upset and looking confused at the checkouts she immediately stepped in to help.
The lady, who's in her 80s, couldn't find her purse, couldn’t remember who she had come with, where she lived, and had no ID or phone with her. Carrie decided to pay for her shopping while trying to work out how best to help her. After talking to her for a while and trying in vain to find out her address, Carrie was about to raise the alarm when the lady's son came rushing in – he'd been frantically searching for her in nearby shops. He was extremely grateful and reimbursed Carrie for the shopping.
Carrie said: "I just wanted to help her as I just care about everybody. She was a lovely lady, bless her, very happy and smiley." Store manager Gary said: "This is a fantastic example of putting our customers first and living our values every day. The lady's son was deeply appreciative of the care and support Carrie had shown. She's a real credit to the team."

Congratulations to Asda customer Hamad who's won free fuel worth up to £1,500 for the next 12 months after finding one of our golden tickets while shopping in Asda Wembley at the weekend.
Hamad found the ticket hidden in the store and was in shock to win. As part of our year-long celebrations to mark our landmark 60th birthday, we've hidden 40 golden tickets in stores across the UK. Between now and the end of the August bank holiday weekend, colleagues will be secretly hiding the tickets and awaiting the lucky winners.

When a home shopping driver at our Wembley store suffered a slipped disc during his deliveries and had to be taken to hospital, our colleague Miten stepped in to make sure customers got their groceries on time.
Miten, who only started working at the store seven months ago, had just finished his shift when he heard about the emergency and quickly volunteered to get a taxi to Kilburn to pick up the van, which was safely parked up, and take the shopping to the remaining customers. He has now won the regional gold award in the Asda service superstar awards for his efforts after being nominated by store manager Mohsin, who said: "We are all very proud of Miten. He's always very calm and polite and nothing is too much trouble for him. He is one of our five-star rated drivers. We really appreciate what Miten has been doing in the time he has been with us and he's become an integral part of the Wembley online operation." The other driver is now recovering at home after receiving hospital treatment.

Our Wembley store is taking part in a trial to make it easier for blind and partially sighted customers to navigate their way through the store whilst they do their shopping.
Customers using the GoodMaps smartphone app can pinpoint their location within one metre of accuracy and then communicate directions to product groups or areas via audio, enlarged visual, and touch commands, and can search for key landmarks within the store such as the pharmacy, toilets and tills. The app can also search for specific product categories on the shelves with the aim being to guide the customer as close as possible to the item they are looking for. Marc Powell from the RNIB said: “It’s so great to see an influential retailer such as Asda proactively championing accessibility through technology like GoodMaps. This is an encouraging step forward in creating a more inclusive world and an example of how improving accessibility for people with sight loss can actually enhance the customer experience for everyone."
