Ordinarily we’d wait till Sundays to talk about our roast but after we invited our friends and family to try out first one in Birmingham - we couldn’t wait till then ♥️
Come the end of the week, our fire pits take on a different rhythm. The grills are packed away, and in their place, whole joints of meat are hung and gently roasted over open coals, just as they once were.
It’s a way of cooking that needs time, space and a whole lot of chop love. So each Sunday, we pause our usual menu to focus solely on serving the very best roast we can - crisp-yet-fluffy potatoes, rich gravy and proper meat cooked the old-fashioned way.
It’s become quite the ritual. And one we’re grateful people seem to love (so booking ahead is always a good idea)

Nothing makes us happier than looking after the ones we meet.
Over the past few months, we’ve been on a mission to take that care one step further: doing things a little differently, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones, and hopefully doing some good along the way.
This year kicked off with muddy boots and big smiles: we hiked the Brecon Beacons, sprinted through the Great Manchester Run, and threw ourselves into the mud (quite literally) at Tough Mudder - all in support of Only A Pavement Away.
In March, we raised a glass to independent businesses with a cheeky menu of cocktails crafted exclusively from B Corp brands. Not charity in the traditional sense, perhaps, but proof that business done right can have a real and lasting impact on communities.
Some of us went even further: conquering a fear of heights by abseiling towering cliffs to raise awareness of allergies in schools, tackling an extreme triathlon to support children’s medical research, and even heading to Kenya to volunteer at Rhino Charge - helping protect the country’s stunning landscapes.
Closer to home, we’ve rolled up our sleeves for Manchester’s Wood Street Mission, cooking lunches, fundraising, all to help make sure children have what they need to start school with confidence. Over in Bakewell, others laced up for EatWell Do Good Month, while Negroni Week (this week) has given us the perfect excuse to stir up a classic in support of Slow Food.
Through it all, one thing shines through: the power of people coming together to make a difference.
Here’s to everyone doing their bit (big or small) to bring about positive change.

For one week only, clear your calendar and join us at Blacklock as we raise a glass (or two) in support of Slow Food 🐌 an incredible charity fighting to secure the future of food.
Our barkeeps have been busy stirring up a seriously tasty Negroni Menu, all to raise money for the very good cause.
🍊Summer Negroni - A delightful reminder of those beautiful summer days gone by with a honeyed twist.
🍊Autumn Negroni - Our newest arrival giving the classic a fruity and tangy makeover courtesy of the gooseberry lead Sipello Aperitif.
🍊Nogroni - Our fruitier interpretation for those in search of big flavours and no booze in sight.
🍊Classic Negroni - Equal parts gin, vermouth and bitters with a slice of orange.
Available all week long, Monday to Sunday - with a cheeky non-alc Negroni in the mix too, of course!
No need to tell us twice…

A VERY SPECIAL SHOUT OUT 🏆
This week we held an absolute nail-biter of a competition to reimagine our beloved Beefy Mary and decide who, out of our talented team, will win a spot at this years Bar Show in Athens 🇬🇷 with the ever-so-delicious Axia Mastiha Spirit.
Contestants from Manchester, Shoreditch, City, and Canary Wharf rose to the task, each presenting their own inventive twist on the classic. We had everything from herbaceous notes to tangy cheeses, zines and presentations.
One drink stood head and shoulder above the rest - crafted by Bryan, entering his first ever completion and totally mopping up with a cocktail unlike anything else we’ve seen before.
Keep your eyes peeled for more and in the meantime a massive congrats Bryan - you smashed it 🔥🔥🔥
