Day 1113 See you soon
You didn’t think I’d leave without saying goodbye did you? This is where we part for the festive season, we will riconviene in the new year. We all know it’s the time to reflect on the year past and the future ahead. While it’s been absolute mayhem this week - with a 3 piece band - it’s also been an incredibly enlightening week. There will me many changes in the new year but this was an inevitability. I know the deli is like a TV series with many twists and turns, some you enjoy to see and some faux pars you look past because the food is oh so delicious! All jokes, cynicism and passive aggression aside I hope you all have the festive period you desire! Apart from you Megan Barton… I hope you get coal.

Day 1112 On to the next:
The hardest part about doing a one woman show is the lack of breathing time. The conversations are endless and I feel as though they get more chaotic as the day goes on. A real snowball effect. With day one conquered I hope the rest of the week will float past.
Salads:
Moroccan spiced lentils
Sumac + spring onion rice
Cauliflower + sunflower seed pesto pasta
Soup: Lightly spiced bean

Day 1110 The fruition of pessimism:
It’s funny really. I sit and stare, searching my mind for positive inspiration to grace my post whilst the shop floor is dense with laughter. The hilarity comes from being surrounded by boisterous merriment but still struggling to find the joke, funny to me at least. Thing is, if you look closely, and squint a little too, there’s actually a little joy in utter misery.
Salads:
Sweet potato coconut curry
5 spiced tofu rice
Roast pepper + tomato pasta
Soup: Sweet potato + ginger

Day 1109 Cream rises to the top but so does the scum:
I’m trying but I’m really scraping for reasons why I should respect my neighbour. They keep asking for ingredients to bake a cake (badly) and leaving me sugarless. Now I find myself needing to make a cake and while I have all the ingredients there’s not enough of any of them. If I was to go to my neighbour, will they lend me the baking basics? Or would they feel put out?
Salads:
Mushroom cacciatore
Sumac rice
Broccoli, chilli + garlic pasta
Soup: Med veg + multibean
Sandwich: Spicy salami, Manchego cheese, Chilli relish + tomato

Day 1108 My mind is somewhere else but i'm glad my person is here:
I’ve spent a lot of my morning looking over the atrocities that have rained down on Syria over the past 60 years. All the cruelty that was being inflicted onto the Syrians and being observed by governments across the world, all the iniquities and injustices that are still just being observed and it makes me think. You might (as a country) not be able to overthrow another government but surely you can create and execute a plan to take a population out of the tyranny? How can we demonise people that manage to escape that?
Salads:
Med veg chickpea
Lemon + rosemary rice
Sausage + ham pasta
Soup: Lightly spiced broccoli + potato
Sandwich: Garlic salami, Fontina cheese, Spicy peach relish + tomato

Day 1107 Non me ne frega niente:
I have to make a conscience decision to care. See, every Tom, Prick and Larry seems to come in and express themselves (whether I want them to or not) because I’m a cheap counterpart to a therapist. Here’s the thing, I’m not a therapist and most days I contemplate mass murder or su***de (like any great therapist would) so I don’t think i'm the best person to go to, alas, they still come. I should charge more.
Salads:
5 spiced black bean
Edamame + crispy shallot rice
Roast squash + pepper pasta
Soup: Sweetcorn + ginger

Day 1106 Let's just talk about the weather:
The dissatisfaction level of life has been mighty high recently. The biggest highlight of most days is looking back at my performance and applauding the incredible acting I do on a daily basis. I’m joking of course, just a bit of banter to start off your week. What about storm Darragh eh? Crazy stuff!
Menu:
Chilli non carne
Spinach + herb rice
Mushroom ragu pasta
Croutoned, bean salad with roast pepper + herb dressing
Soup: Lightly spiced broccoli
Sandwich: Milano salami, Pecorino cheese, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 1105 (my) mums the word:
We’re all such gossips aren’t we? We all have our own styles of spreading the word, even the words we choose to spread but we all talk. Wondering why we (as a population) find ourselves in certain scenarios. Hypercapitalism for example, how did we get to this? ‘back in my day’ No. Shut up. You’re just as responsible for this as we are. But whose willing to inconvenience themselves slightly for the greater good?
Salads:
Mild chickpea curry
Roast pepper rice
Sausage + ham pasta
Soup: Cumin roasted potato + spinach

Day 1104 A change of heart:
I had my bars set and ready to spit as we were hit again yesterday with a poor review, honestly we need to fire the staff! My heart was filled with venom as I went stomping to my keyboard ready to mock Mr Wade but then God threw something at me to flip my script! Not one, not two but three top notch reviews! I removed my hands from the lettered interface and paused to process a phrase we all know and take into account when one is faced with a conflict. The radiant retribution for a recreant review is and will always be the same…A deli-less life. Enjoy!
Salads:
Beetroot goulash
Leek + dill rice
Mushroom + tomato pasta
Soup: Velvet mushroom
Sandwich: Spicy salami, Gorgonzola, Cumberland caramelised onion relish + tomato

Day 1103 I heard you don't like me:
omg omg omggg!! Guys. We got a 2 star google review because I am UNPROFESSIONAL! I am over familiar and too rude! That’s news to me, lolz. Miss Barton signs off with ‘ultimately they need a ‘proper adult’ in charge.’ Where does one begin when it comes to dissecting this statement, this constructive criticism, this absolute TRUTH BOMB! Miss Barton you’re welcome to come and fulfil my role whenever you like honey, let’s see how long you stay unfamiliar and kind. Y’all asked me for the T and God landed this beauty in my lap!
Salads:
5 spiced black bean
Edamame + crispy shallot rice
Broccoli, chilli + garlic pasta (contains sesame)
Brussel sprout bake

Day 1102 Bitter as ever:
I know I’m quite miserable on here, I’ve actually made a genuine attempt to be more upbeat as of late. When I first started witing these little exerts, they were for me and a few estate agents that would go on our website to see what’s cooking. Now people are hesitant to interact with me in case they get put on blast. This isn’t Gossip Girl. I also won’t use your government name but rather the belittling nickname I use to refer to you because your name doesn’t matter you gobermouch!
Salads:
Moroccan spiced lentils
Sumac rice
Sausage + ham pasta
Veggie pasta bake
Soup: Indian spiced veg
Sandwich: Chorizo, Provola cheese, Spicy peach relish + tomato

Day 1101 I need sleep:
It’s been an intense day and we haven’t even hit the mid point. I haven’t had a second to think this morning but i’m not complaining. I love when a Friday is properly busy. It gets to the end of shift and someone asks ‘how was your day?’ - not a clue. My brain told my hands what to do but if you ask me for information people told me and the responses I gave, i’m at a loss.
Salads:
Mild chickpea curry
Turmeric + ginger rice
Roast squash ragu pasta
Soup: Mild vegetable madras
