Ride to Work Day

Held internationally Ride to Work Day on Tuesday 9th June celebrates its 35th anniversary!

Organised and run in the UK by MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) to show that motorcycles are a key part of a multi-modal and sustainable transport future, and offer a way to fill the gap between active travel and reduced public transport without relying on the car, providing social, economic and environmental benefits in a world currently dominated by four wheels or more!

“MAD Sunday + Courier Day II & Ace Cafe Club Summer Meet”
7th June
9am – 5pm

Whether you're thinking about taking up riding or if you are a new or experienced rider, and with bikes through the years generally getting faster and sharper, the cafes annual Motorcycle Awareness Day (MAD Sunday) is focused on the powered two-wheeled community, and this year includes with Courier Day and the Ace Cafe Club Summer Meet!

The brainchild of Dave Gurman, former London despatch rider and editor of “The Rider's Digest”, and with prizes up for grabs to include a fancy snazzy ruby red carbon fibre helmet and a pair of hi tech Gore-Tex gloves - all you do is to turn up at the Ace on June 7th and if you can prove that you were or still are a courier (or get someone with the credentials to vouch for you), your name will go into the lid and if you’re the lucky one, hey presto you will be heading home with a nice new bit of kit (helmet or gloves).

ONE FOR THE DIARY!

Dave Day Bike Ride (No.3) 2026

NB: On Saturday 20th June the Ace will be open from 5.30am with the ride departing the cafe at 7am.

The aim of Dave Day is to smash the fundraising goal and to spread hope and happiness to all regardless of who you are or where you’re from whilst honouring and remembering ‘Hairy Biker’ the late Dave Myers and all other lost loved ones. The organisers want to replace I’m having a great day with "I’m having a Dave Day!" whilst raising as much as they can for great causes.

All funds raised will be split, 50% to Childline and the other 50% being donated to causes in Barrow in Furness
Childline link:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/869826758233272/user/100064344203236/

Last year’s event (2025) saw the 36000 of the UK motorcycle community pull together and ride to Dave's home town of Barrow in Furness, which in 2024 saw over 46000 riders take part!

What people say

Ace Cafe London Ltd is a cafe and restaurant that has a rich history dating back to 1938. It was originally established as a pit-stop for travellers passing through London, but it quickly became a centre for all things speedy, greasy and loud. The cafe has been rebuilt after being destroyed by a bomb in 1940, and it now stands as a testament to the motor trade.

The Ace Cafe London experience is unique and authentic, with an ambience that has been devised, designed and built by fellow petrolheads. The cafe offers facilities and activities that ensure its history lives on. Whether you're looking for a cuppa or a fry-up, you'll find something to suit your taste at Ace Cafe London Ltd.

The spirit and motivation of the cafe remains the same today as it did over twenty years ago - individual and authentic! The way of expressing oneself with music and machines may have changed over the years, but the passion for all things automotive remains strong.

If you're looking for a place to grab some food or simply soak up some motoring heritage, then Ace Cafe London Ltd is definitely worth checking out. With its rich history, unique atmosphere and delicious food, it's no wonder that this cafe has become such an iconic part of London's cultural landscape.
