What people say
If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, Gunpowder London is definitely worth checking out. With three locations across the city, this restaurant showcases the bold and vibrant flavors of the Indian subcontinent in a unique and exciting way.
One standout dish is the Chettinad pulled duck with homemade oothappam. The duck is poached in toddy, a type of palm wine, then "pulled" and cooked down with onions and tomatoes for a rich texture and flavor. Served in a rice flour pancake with pickled carrots, it's the perfect pick-me-up dish.
Another must-try is the Coorgi-style grilled pork chop using their Gloucestershire old spotted pig. Marinated overnight in fenugreek mustard and cumin, finished off on the grill with a spiced tamarind and apple glaze - it's moreish and fantastic.
Gunpowder London also offers specials like their love letter to the rich history and culinary traditions shared between India and Portugal. They traveled the length of the Portuguese coastline looking for the best seafood to showcase big bold flavors of India.
Overall, Gunpowder London is an excellent choice for those seeking an elevated Indian dining experience. Their dishes are creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Don't forget to ask for their Rasam bomb at their Spitalfields location - it's sure to spice up your Tuesday afternoon!
