Bring back salad cream!
This time last week, .bassett popped up with us at The Canton to celebrate and promote his fantastic new book, The Full English, all about the history of England’s peculiar food.
Here he is talking us through his take on salad cream, served with seasonal vegetables.

A lovely little turn out yesterday evening for Sami of Massaya Lebanon and his selection.
Plenty of regulars popped by for saucisson, crisps and some excellent w**es!

A couple of Event reminders for the week ahead!
Tomorrow, Monday, we welcome Sami from Massaya Lebanon for a small, free w**e tasting in the bar from 5pm until 6.30pm.
Come along and discover his beautiful organic Lebanese w**es. It’s a lovely opportunity to meet Sami and get to know more about their history and w**ery.
Then on Wednesday, we’re delighted to welcome back former canton chef .bassett into the kitchen, cooking up some traditional English dishes from his Full English book.

On Wednesday 14th October, we’re welcoming back an old friend to the kitchen. Lewis Bassett, .bassett who used to cook with us, returns to serve his take on a handful of traditional English dishes alongside our usual menu.
Lewis is the author of Full English, a new book exploring England’s peculiar food culture through his own experiences.
Part food memoir, part cultural history, Full English uncovers the historical roots of the strange and wonderful ways we eat in England, and why.
Published by Verso, the book is out now and available in all the usual places.

To reach the pub and gastropub located at South Lambeth Road in London, you can take public transport by using the nearest underground station which is Stockwell Station. From there take Bus No. 88 towards Clapham Common and get off at Durham Street Stop. Alternatively, you can also use the overground train and stop at Vauxhall train station, then take Bus No. 2 towards Norwood Junction or Bus No. 88 towards Clapham Common and get off at the Durham Street Stop.
If you are driving, follow A203 from Vauxhall Bridge Road, turn right onto South Lambeth road and continue straight until you reach your destination. The area has limited street parking available, so it is recommended to park in nearby pay-and-display car parks or use public transportation to avoid parking hassles.

Canton Arms, located on South Lambeth Road, is a must-visit gastropub in Stockwell. The pub offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is simply amazing, with dishes like the Sea-bream Crudo with elderflower vinaigrette, grapes and almonds, and the House-made ‘Sai Oua’ mutton sausages with Thai cucumber and chilli being some of the highlights. The bar staff are knowledgeable about their drinks and can whip up a mean cocktail like the Fresh Raspberry Fizz enjoyed by Trudy. The pub also has its own merchandise with Canton T-shirts available in two colours and various sizes. If you're looking for a great night out or just a place to relax after work, Canton Arms is definitely worth checking out.
