Our gorgeous wrapping paper wall..
Pattern and colour have been an inspiration to me all my life.. from my first memories visiting the local yarn shop with my Nan, I’ve been transfixed by colour, texture and pattern. I spent 4 years at Brighton Poly studying fashion textiles and was always in love with hand knitting. My first love 💚
My teachers would always say to me… ‘you’ll never find a job in hand knit wear design’.. but the universe had other plans! I landed my first job with Nancy Vale knitwear based in Eltham, and spent the next 10 years doing what I loved.. 🙏🏻💚

Have you seen our new art exhibition upstairs? We are delighted to be showing oils on board painted by my friend and Hither Green resident Heide.
You may have seen Heide in the local parks and streets feeding pigeons and loving in nature. Born in the Black Forest in Germany, she migrates to parks and woodland whenever she can. Her paintings currently hanging are scenes from our local parks.. mountsfield, Manor Park and hilly fields to name a few. We’ve already sold quite a few of them, so do pop in to have a look and spend some time in our cosy upstairs amongst her beautiful works 🌺🌱💚

Shifting seasons… can you feel the harvest season under your feet? I’ve been up in Northumberland watching farmers harvesting wheat and making hay bales. Collecting blackberries, blueberries and cranberries from the moors and hedgerows. Watching grasses in the wind gazing at hydrangea and autumn heathers and shrubs. The colours turning to golden, warm hues of yellow, orange, pink and purple. The changes can be felt suddenly from one day to the next as cooler mornings and evenings creep in. A time to be grateful for all we have reaped. 💛🧡

We can see already the last summer flowers are here .. already in the time@of harvest we start to see grasses and burnt orange colours moving to the fore. I’ve found these crocosmia are still growing well in our garden in semi shade and the weigelia are coming into flower.

Magical corners .. there’s a lot to take in looking round the shop .. so take your time.. there are hand crafted treasures and vintage finds in every corner. Slow shopping.. or just slow absorbing. You don’t have to buy 🙏🏻💚

Our Sophie and Joanne with their eyes 👀 on the prize! Sorbet pops will be back in the shop this week. Made from English grown real fruit.. rhubarb, and flowers such as elderflower. Soo delicious 🩷❤️🌺

Thank you Hither Green for a lovely week 💜 we really enjoyed making all the bouquets for you! It was mums birthday on Friday and this bouquet took a trip in a bucket of water down to King Johns Nursery in Sussex where we had some lunch in the garden with the robins 💚 Don’t forget we have a beautiful upstairs outdoor terrace where you can have a secluded breakfast or lunch surrounded by plantlife and soothers by our water feature 💚🌺🔆

Maybe it’s the sunshine right now that keeps us coming back to sunflowers… I’ve had so many conversations about them this week.. from the disappointments of home grown ones when the squirrels make off with whole sunflower heads .. to customers telling me theirs have grown the 8ft in their gardens. It’s definitely the moment to celebrate them and Genni’s Kent grown ones have been so perfect! From egg yolk goid to the palest lemon they are stealing the show.
We sold out today but Genni has restocked us ready for you tomorrow 🔆💛

Summer months of course have the best variety of blooms.. we have surprises everyday from our floral wholesalers and growers.
Lemon sunflowers are the best sellers this week and they look stunning on their own or in a mix like this one made by our Isis
