In 1932 Giuseppe (Beppe) Papini moved into 23 West Smithfield, EC1 and opened the cafe - later named ‘Beppe’s Cafe’. Today we celebrated the 90th anniversary of the cafe now run by the 3rd generation of Papini’s - Sergio & Daniela. Through economic downturns, the Blitz, nonno being interned, and more recently Covid, the cafe has continued to serve the public with traditional full English and later pasta/lasagna

Hi all at beppes cafe
On Monday After dropping my 80 year old dad off at barts for a minor heart operation
I popped in for a coffee and sandwich with my mum who’s 78 years old
When we reached home my mum realised she had left her new jumper on the seat outside
Yourself and your staff absolutely went out of there way to take the jumper to my dad in the depths of the hospital to return the jumper as he was coming home in patient transport
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all
So so kind
Also the food and coffee was outstanding
Once again thank you so much
