Hi everyone, we are Russell and Diane Smith, and we’re standing as candidates for Reform UK.

We’ve been business owners of The Wheatsheaf Pub in the St Albans Ward for the past 25 years.
Russell’s parents also ran the pub for 25 years before us, from 1969 to 1994.

We got married in St Albans Church in 1992, raised our two daughters here, and have been part of this community our whole lives.

This isn’t just where we work. It’s home.

And like many local residents have said to us… the area has gone downhill in recent years.

We’re not career politicians.
We’re people who live here, work here, and see what’s actually going on day to day.

We want to help improve things, properly.

Here’s what we’re pushing for:

• Better parking solutions for residents
• Free parking in shopping areas to support small businesses
• Increased street cleaning (too many roads are being missed)
• Security measures at Romford Station, including metal detectors, to help deter knife crime
• More CCTV in back streets and lanes to prevent fly tipping and discourage drug activity
• Offering empty shops free rent for the first year to bring life back into the town centre

We’ll also be running a weekly morning surgery every Tuesday at the pub, so residents can come and speak to us directly.

If Tuesdays don’t work, our doors are open anyway.

The pub is open 7 days a week, and you’ll be able to come in and talk to us from midday to 11:30pm most nights.

While we can’t personally leaflet every street due to running a business full time, you will still receive a leaflet, we’ve got a great group of supporters helping us, which we really appreciate.

We know some candidates don’t even live in this ward, despite representing it for years.

We do. Always have.

Yes, we can pour a pint.
Yes, we can do photoshoots.

But we also care deeply about this area and want to see it improve.

We’re not retired.
We’re hard-working people, just like you.

If you want to see things improve in Romford, we’d really appreciate your vote.
