From West Cork to Greenwich 🇮🇪🧀
For our second stop in Ireland, Alex, Val, & Will visited the incredible team behind , a truly special, family run farm near the coast outside Schull. The Ferguson family have been farming this land surrounded by Atlantic air for generations, building something remarkable from the ground up.
What started decades ago with Tom and Giana’s vision to produce food directly from their land has grown into a full family effort, with their cheeses crafted on-site from their own herd’s milk, and every part of the farm working in harmony. From dairy to charcuterie, it’s all connected, seasonal, and deeply rooted in place.
Huge thank you to Fingal for showing us around and sharing such a deep insight into the farm, we’re incredibly grateful for the time and generosity.
We’re proud to bring the stories behind this cheese back to Greenwich 🧀
And to celebrate join us for our St Patrick’s Day cheese tasting tomorrow , tickets still available online & in store! 🍀

Our Irish cheese adventure 🇮🇪🧀
Alex, Val, and Will have just returned from a trip to Ireland where they spent time visiting some of the country’s most brilliant cheesemakers and the people behind many of the cheeses you’ll find in our counter here in Greenwich.
Our first stop in West Cork was to visit the makers of . The cheese began in the early 1970s when Jeffa Gill moved to a small hillside farm above the village of Durrus. Drawing on her farming background, she started milking cows and experimenting with farmhouse cheesemaking alongside a small group of pioneering women who helped spark the revival of Irish farmhouse cheese.
What started in a farm kitchen gradually grew into a fully fledged dairy on the farm, with the cheese gaining recognition early on. Such as, a gold medal at one of the first Irish farmhouse cheese competitions in the 1980s. Today, more than 40 years later, Durrus is still made by hand on the same farm, with Jeffa, her daughter Sarah, Ann McGrath, Peter and the team continuing the tradition using milk from local herds in West Cork.
We’re proud to stock Durrus here in the shop, and after meeting the people behind it we love it even more.
To celebrate all things Irish, is hosting a St Patrick’s Day cheese tasting in the next week on Tuesday 18th 🇮🇪🧀 We’ll be pouring drinks and tasting some fantastic Irish cheeses, including a few from producers we visited on the trip.
Tickets are still available online and in store.
