BBQ scallops in their shell, N’duja and pangrattato.
Paired with the Biodynamic, La Rosé from .wine, a beautifully textured rosé from Alto Adige. Its vibrant acidity, wild berry character and subtle savoury notes make it the ideal partner for the sweetness of the scallops and the gentle smoky heat of the N’duja.
Not all seafood needs white wine.
“Guests often expect a white wine with scallops. We pour this fantastic rosé and watch your eyebrows raise.” 😄🍷🐚

🦆 A duck, a lifeboat crew and a future Prime Minister? Stranger things have happened in Teddington.
Our Italian duck had a fantastic day at the Teddington Duck Race, even if it didn’t quite make it onto the winners’ podium in the water. We were absolutely delighted to finish 2nd place in the Best Dressed Duck competition from 66 entries, complete with garlic garland, chef’s colander hat and (at the start of the day at least) a farfalle pasta bow tie. 🇮🇹🍝
The duck even found time to pose for a photograph with Liberal Democrat leader sir before heading off for its aquatic adventure.
A huge thank you to , the volunteers, everyone who voted for us, and all the local businesses who took part.
We’ll be back next year. The bow tie will be stitched on more securely.

☀️🦆 TODAY’S THE DAY! 🦆☀️
The Teddington Duck Race is underway and Team Shambles is in the running!
Our duck spent last night carb-loading on a bowl of pasta at Shambles in preparation for today’s big race. Whether that translates into speed remains to be seen, but he’s certainly giving it his all.
We’ll be down at the RNLI Open Day with our Aperol Spritz bar, cheering on our very own duck and serving a little taste of Italy by the river.
If you’re heading down, come and say hello, grab a Spritz and give our duck some much-needed encouragement. We can’t promise it’ll be the fastest duck on the water, but it’s certainly the best fed.
A brilliant local event supporting the Teddington Christmas Lights and bringing the community together.
See you by the river.

A little behind the scenes from today’s team wine training at SHAMBLES.
Before a few of our team head into London to sit their WSET Level 2, we spent the afternoon tasting, discussing and sharpening the details that matter - structure, balance, regions, producers and, most importantly, how wine feels at the table with food and guests around it.
A huge thank you to Tom from and for hosting the session and guiding the team through the tasting. Proper hands-on education, great conversation and plenty of bottles opened in the name of research.
Wine has always been a huge part of what we do here. Not in a stiff, intimidating way - just genuine curiosity, constant learning and helping people discover something they may not have ordered otherwise.
From Alto Adige whites and Umbrian Chardonnay through to Italian Pinot Noir, Tuscan blends and different styles of Nebbiolo the conversation was flowing almost as much as the wine.
Proud of this lot. Hospitality’s at its best when people keep learning.

Our duck’s not messing about for this years Teddington Duck race on Sunday 31st May.
While the others were floating round paddling pools… ours has been in pre-season training on Lake Como. 🇮🇹🦆
High-altitude conditioning.
Cold-water resistance.
Questionable Italian coaching methods involving colanders and garlic.
Safe to say the competition should be worried.
Catch the SHAMBLES duck at the Teddington Duck Race this Sunday.
If it loses, we’ll be launching an immediate internal investigation. 😅

This one tastes like the Italian coast in early summer.
Wood-fired red mullet from the BBQ served with marinated squid, asparagus, beans and saffron agrodolce - balancing sweetness, acidity, smoke and sea in the way Italian cooking does.
Rustic, seasonal cooking… freshly prepared in house and built around ingredients rather than fuss.
Best enjoyed slowly with good company and a glass of Impero Blanc. Made from Pinot Noir using white vinification, it has the texture and quiet depth of the grape with the freshness and precision of a white wine - brilliant with seafood cooked over fire.
Mineral, elegant and just unusual enough to spark conversation. One of those pairings where the wine changes with every bite.

The sun’s out. The garden’s open. This feels like the sort of weekend made for long lunches and cold glasses of wine.
Our white wine-poached octopus carpaccio with Sicilian puttanesca cruda paired with Falanghina del Sannio from Masseria Frattasi - bright, citrus-driven and exactly the kind of bottle you want in front of you when the weather finally behaves itself.
Italian seasonal cooking, serious wines by the glass and a garden built for staying longer than planned.
See you in .

Slow braised lamb neck.
Cooked low and slow until the meat barely needs a knife, served in a rich tomato and rosemary broth with roasted cherry tomatoes.
This is the sort of dish that sums up our cooking at Shambles - Italian at heart, seasonal, unfussy and built around patience rather than theatre.
A glass of Sangiovese alongside it wouldn’t hurt either.
Freshly prepared in house at our family-run restaurant & winebar in Teddington.

Some restaurants are about rushing through dinner.
Shambles has always been about staying for one more glass.
The fire’s lit in winter. The wisteria hangs overhead in summer. Music and chatter hums in the background, bottles get recommended across the table and somehow a quick dinner turns into a long evening.
That feeling doesn’t happen by accident.
For more than four decades, we’ve built Shambles around warm hospitality, Italian seasonal cooking freshly prepared in house, handmade pasta and a wine list devoted to discovery.
The building has history. The rooms have character. The garden grown with Italy in mind. Nothing feels overly polished - and we like it that way.
Relaxed, welcoming and full of life, but always serious about food, wine and looking after people properly.
A family-run, independent restaurant & winebar in Teddington.
Just the sort of place people don’t want to leave. What brings you Fireplace or Wisteria?

Some wines are made for the table.
Pàrgolo Chianti Classico from Podere La Villa is one of them.
Bright Tuscan cherry fruit, wild herbs, a little earthiness and just enough grip to cut through chargrilled meat, handmade pasta and generous Italian cooking without bulldozing the food.
This is exactly why we love serving wine by the glass at SHAMBLES - giving guests the chance to explore and discover bottles that genuinely come alive with food.
Swipe to see what happened next… 🍷
Family-style steaks, spring vegetables, fresh focaccia, salads in the middle of the table and a bottle quietly doing its job properly in the background. That’s the real sweet spot.

Grey skies outside. Southern Italy on the table.
POLPO
White wine-poached octopus carpaccio, lemon & puttanesca cruda.
Paired with Falanghina del Sannio Taburno from Masseria Frattasi - bright citrus, volcanic minerality and saline freshness that cuts beautifully through the octopus, olive oil and puttanesca flavours.
One of Southern Italy’s best value wines too - full of character, quietly brilliant and made for fresh ingredients like this.
And, not every escape requires an airport!

Agnolotti might look like a kind of ravioli at a glance but it plays a different game.
It’s made from one sheet of pasta, folded over the filling, not two sheets sealed together like ravioli.
That means a finer bite, less bulk and a better ratio… the filling leads, the pasta follows.
And that’s where it gets interesting.
Ours is stuffed with porchetta, slow-cooked, seasoned properly, all that richness you’d expect, then finished simply with butter and sage.
No heavy sauce, no distractions. Just enough to coat, lift the flavours and let everything land exactly where it should.
It’s one of those dishes that proves the point:
keep it simple, get the technique right and let the ingredients do the heavy lifting.

HG Walter dry-aged T-bone.
Tender fillet on one side, full-flavoured sirloin on the other… the best of both worlds, exactly as it should be.
Cooked over wood-flame, served simply and finished with nothing more than good salt, lemon and passion.
All washed down with a glass of Sangiovese and finished with our signature yoghurt foam. What not to Love! ❤️ 🥩
Big thanks to Douglas Blyde for the fab images.

A dish with a bit of history behind it.
Insalata di Nervetti - a sweet ‘n’ sour calves foot salad, something you’d find in trattorias across northern Italy.
I remember one of the first times eating it… I was with friends after a wedding, visiting family in the Valtellina mountains above Lake Como.
Simple ingredients, carefully prepared, finished with red peppers, Italian beans and celery leaf.
It’s light, fresh and all about texture - the kind of nose to tail dish that tells a story with every bite.
20/03/2026
Burrata cheese with blood oranges, fennel seed, honey and lavender dressing.
Seasonal ingredients, a few thoughtful touches and a balance of flavours that does all the talking - sweet, citrusy, creamy and just lightly floral.
Fresh, simple and made to be shared.
