We propose to amend the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to make pet theft a specific offence, distinct from that of inanimate objects; and in sentencing, the courts must consider the fear, alarm or distress to the pet and owners and not monetary value.

At least 5 dogs are stolen every day in England & Wales. Research by Allen et al (2019) reveals an increase in dog theft crimes, 1,294 in 2015, 1,525 in 2016, 1,678 in 2017; and decrease in court charges related to dog theft crimes, 62 in 2015, 48 in 2016, 37 in 2017.

A strong deterrent is needed. This amendment would ensure on conviction, imprisonment for a term up to 2 years becomes available to courts.

London based? Love a chance to tread the red carpet with your dog?

What are you doing next Sunday 12th August at 11am?
Could you be in central London? You will want to be!
Want to go to the first dog-friendly screening of a brand new (doggie) movie in central London?
Proper swanky venue - Picturehouse Central, PIccadilly!
Doggie red carpet... the works!
Dogs even allowed on the cinema seats if they fit/want? (blanket supplied)
Water bowls, too!
Here's the trailer
http://bit.ly/Dogdaystrailer
I am hoping it's a bit Bridget Bones, Devil Wears Dog hair crossed with Beagley Blonde - but I don't see a preview till next week, so can't promise that!
The blurb says: "Set in sunny Los Angeles, we follow the lives of multiple dog owners and their beloved fluffy pals. When these human and canine paths start to intertwine, their lives begin changing in ways they never expected...stories of everyday people and their best friends are woven together and told in a way that will make dog lovers laugh, cry, and swoon over the furry cuteness.
For this special dog-friendly screening of Dog Days, Picturehouse Central invites pooches (and owners) to strut their stuff down a doggie-sized red carpet before the screening."
Oscar-Standard doggie bag for the lucky dogs... just saying...
Go on, treat yourselves.
Hurry - get your tickets here:

Pets are family, not things! The law currently doesn't reflect this and looks at the pet's purchase price when sentencing. While there is a maximum

There are very few Gov petitions that ever get 10,000 signatures, even fewer get to 100k. And these days they only give us six months to gather enough

Removing puppies for sale from litter & mum often creates sick, traumatised, dysfunctional dogs. Puppies should be seen with their mum & transporting them to a different place for sale harms welfare. Regulating commercial 3rd party sales is ineffective to prevent harm & a ban is therefore necessary.

Today is Ricky Gervais appreciation day! He retweeted our petition late last night to his 13 million followers. The petition was launched in the afternoon of March 1st and on March 3rd it passed the 10,000 mark which is brilliant. Let's get it to 100,000 like Ricky says!

If you are wondering, why another petition, do these things ever work? The answer is here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-sad-face-because-weve-got-rid-puppy-farming-yet-beverley-cuddy/?published=t

And if you don't need the explanation, here's the petition, please sign it and share it and keep sharing it. We want 100k by Mother's Day.....which is Sunday in the UK!
Think of it as "where's Mum?" day when we ponder on all the breeding slaves who never know what it is to be loved. Emancipate them, sign, share and keep sharing this week.... and click the article if you want to know how you can get more involved. This is people power at its best. And watch Ricky's show, love his dog job routine... what a hero he is!

If so sign and share this petition.
Think you have already signed? If not in the last two days, you haven't. This is a NEW, specific official petition, created to give Mr Gove all the reassurance in the world that we want a third party ban.
When you've signed it, that's not the end of it, you have to check you inbox and verify the signature by clicking the link.
And, if you really do want to end the suffering of breeding slaves - you need to find new places to share this petition. Are there any local groups on facebook - not necessarily doggie? 1 in 4 of the population own a dog, 80% actively care about dogs even if they don't own them.
You've made a great start - more than 5000 signed in a day and a half. But we want very much more, we want this petition to be overflowing by the time the media spotlight turns on Crufts next week.
This is something that surely we can all agree on, let's unite and push on this one if we each concentrate on sharing it for just fifteen minutes each day, we'd do it.
Get creative, make your posts noticed. Include a meme or a personal story of how terrible life is for pet shop pups or on line impulse pups. Mention Marshall who nearly died or poor Raven, who did. Make people stop and think and realise not only that they care about this, but they can get involved and change things.
Make a huge achievable step for animal welfare.
Be part of history, do your bit - get sharing and get this done. Your dog will be so proud of you.

Can we get to a thousand signatures before midnight? Only 120 needed.... Be part of the first 1000 to back this, be part of this historic united move to finally take the puppy out of pet shops. Together we can achieve so much for our best friend the dog. Get rid of the market and you hit the profit motive of the traffickers, the puppy farmers and the callous dealers.

All you need to do is Sign and Share and urge others to do it to... we will do this, you will do this.
