We dived straight into it! Our first assignment as a restaurant was to host day time rave.
The space easily handled 100 standing guests, with a ceiling packed with layers of wool insulation, any music would sound amazing over loudspeakers. Good enough for a wedding perhaps?

Uncle Hon's BBQ restaurant is opening this July!
The wait is over! We’re opening an 80-cover restaurant, taking over the former site of Silo restaurant above , overlooking the canal in Hackney Wick. Check our bio for the Kickstarter campaign link and become one of our first guests!
Your feedback and support over the past few years have convinced me to take this logical next step. I truly believe that if we continue to produce consistently good Asian-inspired Texas BBQ, we can weather any storms ahead.
This is a massive opportunity for us to truly showcase our vision for food. Not only will we be able to create anything we dare to imagine in this new kitchen, but we’ll also have drinks that align with our menu, and the space to host parties, music events, small exhibitions, chef collaborations, a retail space for home cooks, and BBQ classes.
All of this is possible because we’re inside a huge post-industrial space — and that’s exactly why I fell in love with Hackney Wick.
I’ll be updating you frequently on our progress, but I’m really going to need your help by sharing this and telling your friends and family about the news. If you’ve enjoyed our food in the past, I can promise you it’s only going to get better.
Thank you to my family for supporting me in this life-changing decision, as well as the team at Crate for their guidance and support over the last six months.
I look forward to seeing you there again and again!

I am so excited to tell you about our next collab with chef Irene Hua from
Together, we’ll be wrapping up glutinous rice parcels filled with freshly smoked BBQ meats, prepared in true Texas style.
Our goal was to create an Asian-inspired answer to our ever-popular mac and cheese — and we think we’ve nailed it! The result is smooth, rich, and irresistibly comforting with every bite.
This special item will be available in limited quantities, so we highly recommend pre-ordering to make sure you don’t miss out!

Golden Lemon Glaze is the new flavour for our smoked pork belly cubes — a celebration of British Chinese takeaway culture.
Growing up in Hong Kong in the 80s and 90s, the only “sweet and sour” dish I ever saw was deep-fried pineapple pork balls. Yet in the UK, sweet and sour everything appeared on every Chinese takeaway menu, each one a couple of hundred items deep.
I hope we’re doing that legacy justice — paying homage to the adaptive of British Chinese cooking, while giving it a fresh, modern twist.
