We are part of London Reclaimed, a youth employment charity working with 26-25 year olds helping them step up into employment. We do this by training, mentoring and crucially employing them either here at Lumberjack, or at our other charity owned enterprise Goldfinch Furniture.
On Easter Sunday a catastrophic fire ripped through the back unit of Goldfinch's workshop in Bermondsey, completely destroying that half of the unit. Fortunately the fire brigade extinguished the fire before it destroyed the front of the unit, where they make furniture.
After the shock subsided, and a whole lot of mess was cleared up, we were left with a question. “Could we take the plunge and turn the back unit into a youth training hub?” (which we'd previously been renting out successfully)...
We’ve dreamed about using the space for our parent charity (London Reclaimed) to expand its youth work for a long time, but up to now haven’t had the opportunity, finance or infrastructure to make it work. However, our project has grown and developed over the last couple of years and we would love to take this huge step.
Life handed us a lemon… could you help us make lemonade!?
We haven’t publicised it until now, as we firstly wanted to make sure the landlord, and insurers, were going to do the right thing, and secondly that had a clear vision for what we wanted to turn the space into.
This training hub will allow us to train more young people, both at Goldfinch Furniture, as well as creating a separate training space for our young people at Lumberjack Coffee.

Can you help make someone’s first home? 🏠
One of our young people has finished her training, is in a permanent role with us and is moving from temporary accommodation into her own place after a difficult and stressful journey.
She’s working hard to do as much as she can herself, but we’re hoping the lovely Lumberjack community can support her further!

It's time for us to have a bit of a furniture refresh to make sure our new space is comfortable and welcoming for all of you lovely people!
We’ve got some beautiful new tables from our sister company on the way..
But that means our old tables (also made by ) are *up for grabs*!!!!
They’ve been well-loved but are made of quality wood, so a sand and oil will bring them up lovely.
This is a never-to-be-repeated* opportunity to get your hands on some Goldfinch beauty in return for a small suggested donation to our youth employment charity (starting as low as £50!)
There are various sizes, and they're all made from sustainably-sourced English Oak or Ash.
If you fancy one, pop in and let us know. We'll reserve it for you until it's available for pickup on the evening of the 31st October (this Monday!!!) (or if that date’s no good we might be able to store it under a tarp for you in our garden for a couple of days.)
*or certainly not for a good few years 😂

If you're coming from central London, you can take the 185 bus from Victoria Station towards Lewisham and get off at Camberwell Church Street. The coffee shop is a short walk from there.
Alternatively, you can take the Overground to Denmark Hill Station, which is about a 10-minute walk away.
If you're driving, there is limited street parking available around Camberwell Church Street, but it may be difficult to find a spot during peak hours. There are also several pay-and-display car parks nearby, including on Denmark Hill and Southampton Way.
