Honestly, I'm glad to see the back of 2021. Affairs, Scandal, Secret Parties, Blatant Lies and Rising COVID cases...and that's just here at The Red. I Hope we'll fare better in 2022. Happy New Year to you all and wishing you a healthy and happy 2022. Cheers, Heath and the Team.

I hope the elation of Christmas Eve followed by the crushing disappointment of Christmas Day wasn’t too much for you. If you’d like to return to some normality, we’ll be open from noon till 23:00 with takeaway roast dinners available.

Christmas at The Red Lion and Sun…
We’ve moved away from the standard Christmas set menu this year. Instead, our daily a la carte menu will have festive options on it, alongside some of The Red Lion classics.
Rest assured Roast turkey with all the trimmings will be available every day over the month of December starting on Wednesday 1st and we’ve added some other special festive dishes. These dishes need to be pre-ordered in advance and depending on the dish, we require up to 5 days notice for items such as the goose. A deposit of £30 is required to book all pre-order dishes, which will be deducted from your final bill on the day.
Christmas pre-order menu
• Whole goose with all the trimmings (4/5 kilo goose that be will feed about 6 people £168)
• Cote du Boeuf - with roast trimmings or with chips, salad and béarnaise sauce an (min weight
700g - max 1.1 kilos) £8 per 100grams
• Slow roasted shoulder of lamb for 5/6 people with all the trimmings £100
• Native lobster - with garlic butter, chips and mixed salad or Singapore chilli style with sticky rice £40
• Whole wild sea bass with lemon butter, samphire and new potatoes - market price, depending on weight requested
Roast trimmings - roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, sprouts, red wine jus
Bookings:
The largest group we will be accepting will be for 8 people. This is due to space constraints, a small kitchen and since the inside of the pub is small large groups change the dynamic and make the atmosphere not as pleasant for other dinners.
Front Garden:
Our front garden is covered and heated and provides more air flow for those of you who do not want to be inside. Even with the heaters it will be a chilly, so please wrap up warm.
Inside:
Note, we only have 2 tables inside that can accommodate 8 people.
Takeaways: Our ‘Bottle and Jug Department in our driveway will be operating for takeaway food and drink. Mulled wine will be available to takeaway for the cold evening dog walks.

We’ve decided to remain football free again on Wednesday, but we’ll have a keen ear to the score - come on England! We’ll be open as usual and offering takeaway food and drink from midday.

A plea to every pub goer on behalf of every licensee: You know you’re sitting outside. You know it’s cold. You know we have a global warming disaster in the offing, so no, we can’t, and shouldn’t, flood every area with heaters. Please wrap up warm. Please don’t complain about the cold...it’s COLD.

April 12th re-opening? Maybe. As with all previous announcements, the devil is in the detail here and what people seemed to have missed was "at the earliest" after the April 12th date was proclaimed. Recent history tells us that a lot can happen in seven weeks, so forgive our cautious approach when we say that we're not opening-up for bookings just yet. Rather, we'll keep an eye on the situation and take a view in a few weeks when hopefully conditions continue to improve. We realise you want to get back to the pub ASAP and we can't wait to welcome most of you back, but we also don't want to accept bookings that might result in mass cancellations. Stay safe. Cheers, Heath
