What people say
London Diamond Bourse, located in the heart of London, is a private members club that has a rich history dating back to 1940. It was established during a time of great turmoil and upheaval, when diamond merchants from Belgium sought refuge in London due to the occupation by the Nazis.
The bourse was initially set up at Mrs. Cohen's cafe in Greville Street, near Hatton Garden, with limited resources and space. However, despite these challenges, the organization thrived under the leadership of its President Max Lack. The London Diamond Bourse quickly became a hub for diamond trading and operated with remarkable success.
In the years following World War II, the bourse experienced an influx of new members who were survivors of the Nazi occupation and concentration camps. Many of these individuals had lost everything and started their careers as diamond brokers with the support and guidance of established dealers within the bourse.
Recognizing the need for expansion, the London Diamond Bourse relocated to larger premises on Hatton Garden's ground floor in the mid-1950s. This move allowed for more comfortable working conditions and facilitated further growth within the organization.
A few years later, a purpose-built building was erected at 32 Hatton Garden, providing an even better environment for members to conduct their business. The bourse's commitment to excellence is further exemplified by its partnership with Barclays Bank, which adds an additional layer of trust and security for its members.
Today, London Diamond Bourse continues to be a prestigious institution within the diamond industry. Its long-standing history, coupled with its dedication to fostering relationships between traders and promoting ethical practices, makes it an ideal destination for those involved in this exclusive trade.
Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting out in the diamond industry, London Diamond Bourse offers a unique platform where you can connect with like-minded individuals and access valuable resources. With its rich heritage and commitment to excellence, it is no wonder that London Diamond Bourse remains a trusted and respected name in the world of diamonds.
