Your brain treats self-control like a battery. Here's what that means if you're gluten-free.
Psychologists have studied the idea that willpower isn't unlimited, that the mental effort required to make careful decisions throughout the day gradually depletes your capacity to make more of them. It's sometimes called willpower depletion, and it's why even small acts of sustained vigilance add up.
Checking a label uses it. Planning a safe meal uses it. Asking a waiter the same question you've asked a hundred times uses it. Navigating a social situation around food uses it.
By the time you get to the habit you're "supposed" to be building, the earlier bedtime, the less screen time, the exercise routine, you may have already spent more of that reserve than most people use in a full day.
This isn't an excuse. It's a framework. One that might change how you plan, how you pace yourself, and how much grace you extend to yourself when you fall short.
One of the simplest ways to protect your reserves: make the easy decisions easier. Find the gluten-free products you genuinely love, the ones you don't have to think twice about, and let those become automatic. Less deliberation over food means more capacity for everything else. Convert difficult tasks into automatic routines, so they require zero decision-making.

You asked. We listened. The oat-free baguette is here.
We know so many of you have been waiting for this. GF Oats have always been a barrier for some of our community, and we didn't want to just remove them and hope for the best. We wanted to get it right first.
Same crisp crust. Same chewy, open crumb. Same proper baguette energy. Just without the gluten and without the gf oats.
This one's for everyone who's been quietly skipping the baguette. Not anymore. πŸ₯–

The story you've been told about gluten-free bread is changing.
We don't have to accept "pretty good for gluten-free." Just, good bread. Proper crust, open crumb, real sourdough fermentation.
We built MyGFBakery because that standard didn't exist. It does now.

That's a wrap on Coeliac Awareness Week 2026. πŸ’›
Thank you to everyone who shared our posts, replied to our Stories, messaged us with your stories, and helped us make some proper noise this week.
This community is something else. If even one person got tested because of something they read this week, that's it. That's the whole point.
We'll keep baking. You keep advocating. See you next week. 🍞

One year after her coeliac diagnosis, bread was still letting Andrea down.
Then she tried our Loaves Mixed Box. Her words: "OMG it tastes like Bread."
Not gluten-free bread. Just bread! The thing our co-founder Rana missed when she was diagnosed, and started the whole business.
Her husband isn't gluten-free. He loves it too. The Totally Seeded is now her favourite.
This is exactly why we do what we do. A new diagnosis doesn't have to mean giving up the food you love. It just means finding the people who take it as seriously as you do.
Send this to someone who's recently been diagnosed and thinks bread is off the table.

Coeliac disease and kids! Nobody prepares you for this combination.
I've been glutened by playdough, and accidentally licking my fingers feeding my children.
Not dramatic moments. Not restaurant disasters. Just ordinary Tuesday-evening family life, moving too fast, doing too many things at once, momentarily forgetting that the rules that apply to me don't switch off just because dinner is chaos.
The honest truth is that some of my accidental glutenings have happened in my own home, in completely mundane moments, because being a mum means your brain is running seventeen tabs at once and sometimes the coeliac tab quietly closes.
When have you accidentally glutened yourself?

Even the gluten-eaters in her house couldn't tell the difference.
K.H. served our Super Sourdough to her family. They didn't know it was gluten-free.
That's the whole point. Not bread that's "pretty good for gluten-free." Bread that holds its own at any table, with anyone.

There are two types of people in this world.
Those who have never had to think twice about grabbing a bagel. And those of us who stood in a cafΓ©, staring at the menu, quietly grieving while everyone else ordered like it was nothing.
We see you. We were you.
Which is exactly why we worked to perfect our bagels - the chew, the crust, the way it holds together when you load it up with all your favourite things.
Because you deserve more than a sad rice cake and a brave face. 😀

Being coeliac isn't a preference.
Here are 4 things that happen recently when attempting to eat outβ€” drop a number in the comments if you've been there πŸ‘‡
1️⃣ "Are you ok with traces of gluten?"
2️⃣ The eye-roll when you ask about the fryer
3️⃣ "Is it actually an allergy though?"
4️⃣ "We have dairy-free options!" …Cool.
