After all the positive feedback on The Coal Shed’s new menu down in Brighton, we’ve decided to bring all of those wood-fired flavours up to our London site at One Tower Bridge.
We’re keeping charcoal and fire cooking at the heart of our menu, but we’re throwing even more exceptional produce on the grills now, including sustainably reared chicken and pork, fresh seafood and locally sourced vegetables.
If you’re looking for some of the best wood fired food in London, our doors are open.

FAT OLD FASHIONED
We've always served incredible food, but the newest evolution of The Coal Shed is now putting just as much focus on serving up incredible drinks.
Speaking with our Bar Manager Doug, he discussed his interest in forming a “close relationship between the bar and the kitchen” - bringing both advanced techniques as well as savoury ingredients into the creation of his serves.
Doug explains “having this relationship with the kitchen means that we are ensuring cohesion between the drinks and the food, minimising waste, and always pushing ourselves, and our customers, to try flavours they might not have experienced before. For me savoury cocktails have always gone hand in hand with a zero-waste approach. We're lucky enough to have a kitchen whose entire ethos is to ensure they are using the highest quality products in the dishes they create, and we wanted to emulate that in the bar. At the moment, we’re serving up our “Fat Old Fashioned” where we use the rendered fat from our steaks to wash the whiskey, giving it an amazing, smooth and creamy texture alongside a smoky and umami flavour.”

50-day aged, grass-fed Black Angus Tomahawk steak.
This premium cut of beef is aged to enhance its tenderness and deepen its flavour. The steak is lightly smoked, then charred and caramelised on the Robata grill to achieve a perfect medium-rare. Pair with Lake Breeze Bernoota Shiraz or Angelin Altitude Malbec to compliment the steak's bold flavours.

At The Coal Shed, the Josper oven isn't just a piece of equipment; it's an essential part of our identity.
The Josper oven seamlessly combines the intense heat of a charcoal grill with the controlled environment of a traditional oven. Its innovative design allows chefs to infuse dishes with a unique smoky flavour while maintaining precise temperature control, resulting in perfectly cooked meats, vegetables, and seafood. With its ability to reach temperatures of up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit, it sears ingredients quickly, sealing in juices and creating a delicious, caramelised exterior.

The Old Fashioned.
Much like all cocktail origin stories the facts are a little murky. Although, it is commonly claimed that the first inception of the drink was made with gin, as described in the 1862 book by the American bartender Jeremiah Thomas. Thankfully, the Old Fashioned became popularised as a whiskey-based cocktail and what we serve today in The Coal Shed is true to that recipe.
We mix with Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon with notes of oak, brown sugar and caramel to make the perfect Old Fashioned.

What people say
British restaurants are known for their high-quality meat and seafood dishes, and The Coal Shed, One Tower Bridge is no exception. This restaurant celebrates the best of meat, fish, and fire by offering seasonal and sustainable options cooked over the coals of a Josper oven. The modern surroundings provide the perfect ambiance to enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family.
One of the standout features of The Coal Shed is their team, led by Tiziana who has been with them for over four years. Her recommendation from the menu is the beef cheek which showcases the care and flare put into their meat. It's a truly moreish dish that's perfect for winter. To complement it, she suggests trying their Cabernet Franc TH, Undurraga from Valle de Maipo - a stunning medium-bodied red from Chile.
Another must-try dish at The Coal Shed is their Bone-In Smoked Beef Short-Rib which falls away into a savory delight that's perfect for sharing. With such delicious food and excellent service from Tiziana and her team, it's no wonder why The Coal Shed has such great energy and every day is different! We highly recommend visiting this British restaurant located on Tower Bridge Road in London for an unforgettable dining experience.
