Sounds of Sweet Berry 🎧🍒
Processed in Yirgacheffe at Adame Washing Station, this coffee is available as both washed and natural. The water used during processing comes from a deep well funded through the Sweet Berry project, which also supplies clean drinking water to nearby villages and schools. It’s the same source that supports both coffee quality and daily life in the community.
Tom and Guus were recently on the ground in Ethiopia, spending time with the producers behind Sweet Berry. Keep an eye out for their trip report next month, along with more insights and images from our Ethiopian offering.

Cencoic Mujeres 🇨🇴
CENCOIC has been a long-term partner of ours in Cauca, Colombia, working through a network of Indigenous communities to support economic autonomy, cultural preservation and sustainable agriculture. Women play a central role across these communities, contributing not only as producers but also in administration, training and leadership.
This year, we’re excited to introduce Cencoic Mujeres, a new washed coffee produced by women within the cooperative. It reflects years of investment in inclusive training, on-farm technical support and programmes that strengthen both coffee quality and community leadership.

This month we highlight Timea’s favourite coffee: El Oso from Peru 🇵🇪
El Oso comes from Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio, deep in Northern Peru, and is part of our DRW Project Coffees supporting the conservation of the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe. The name “El Oso” is a nod to the spectacled bear that inhabits the surrounding forests 🐻
Timea chose it for its sweetness, long finish and fruity notes of kiwi and pineapple 🍍

Why do interest rates matter in coffee? Henry breaks down how currency and interest rates ripple through every stage of the coffee supply chain 👇
💰 At origin: When currencies like the Brazilian Real or Colombian Peso shift against the USD, exporters either earn more or less for the same coffee. That movement changes differentials and impacts FOB pricing.
📦 At import: We buy coffee in USD, but our customers pay in GBP or EUR. A strong or weak pound directly affects how expensive that coffee feels to a roaster.
🌍 In the global market: Because the USD dominates global trade, when it strengthens or weakens, it can move commodity prices — including coffee.

Sumatra Wahana Longberry Natural 🇮🇩
Wahana Estate meaning “Vessels for Great Success” is the first single varietal and speciality estate located in Sumatra. The Estate itself was established in 2005, and currently extends across 468 hectares, 250 of which are given over to growing coffee, with a further 30 hectares to a nursery.
From an initial concentration on the Rasuna and Longberry varietals, the estate has moved to a more diverse offering comprising local varietals such as Andong Sari, Jember, and Jantung, as well as more recognisable ones such as Villa Sarchi, Colombia, and Catuai. These are all kept separated throughout the process, enabling future production of microlots. Wahana specialise in non traditional processing. In a land where Giling Basah is common, it’s hard to find fully washed, let alone naturals, so it really is a testament to the dedication and drive the team put in to the quality to get coffee of this grade.
Longberry is a varietal that has its roots back in the Ethiopian Hararr varietal that often produced longer narrow shaped beans stemming from a mutation of the typica variety traditionally found. It is one of the varietals Wahana have tried to establish in their work on selecting new and suitable varietals to adapt to growth in Sumatra.
The coffee tastes like pineapple, guava, papaya and banana 🍍🍌
