Fathers Day, sorted 👌🏼

Sunday, 21st June - we’re running a special edition of our famous Sunday buffet. Our 100hour dark rum marinated roast leg of lamb will be gracing the table alongside favourites of tandoori fish, dal makhani, pillowy naan and more.

Each Dad and father figure will also enjoy a complimentary pint of beer or non alcoholic beverage to toast with! 🍻

To be recognised alongside so many brilliant restaurants across the capital is a real honour, especially as we celebrate our 41st year in Forest Hill.

An ode to London’s enduring love for beer & curry!!

On Wednesday 13th May, we are teaming up with for an exciting, one-night only Beer & Curry Pairing Dinner.

The evening brings White Rhino’s characterful small batch beers to Babur in a four-course celebration of hops & spice.

Created by Babur’s resident sommelier Rupam Talukdar and Executive Chef Jiwan, the menu will take you on a journey across the subcontinent from tangy Bengali marinades and crisp lager to rich Maharashtrian rassa wand aromatic, hoppy Indian pale ale - each dish chosen to amplify and contrast the character of the beers!

Tickets are £49.95 per person and include a refreshing beer cocktail and 4 courses with accompanying beer pairing.

On Wednesday 13th May, we’re teaming up with for a one night only Beer & Curry pairing dinner.

Created by Executive Chef Jiwan Lal and resident sommelier and mixologist Rupam Talukdar, the four-course menu explores the brilliant chemistry between bold Indian flavours and characterful craft beer — from Bengali Kasundi Salmon and Malai Chicken Tikka to Maharashtrian Kala Mutton Masala and Ragi Chocolate Halwa.

Each course is paired with a carefully chosen pour, showing just how well hops, spice, richness and smoke can play together.

Yesterday’s visit to the with and .gardening was a real source of inspiration.

We loved discovering and tasting so many different herbs and edible flowers, each with its own unique flavour, aroma and character. It’s given us plenty of ideas for the season ahead and we can’t wait to bring some of that inspiration into our summer menus. Watch this space 🫜

For our Holi feast, we begin with Chukandri Dahi Bhalla.

Soft lentil and beetroot dumplings, delicately soaked in tangy yoghurt, layered with tamarind gel, finished with roasted cumin dust and crisp shards of beetroot.

Holi at Babur ✨🌈

We’re doing something a little special this year.

On Wednesday 4th March, we’re celebrating the Festival of Colour the way we think it deserves — with great food, great music, and an atmosphere that’ll stay with you long after the evening ends.

Our Executive .jiwan has put together a five-course menu that reflects the spirit of the occasion. Mango & Avocado Chaat, Banarasi Chicken Tikka, Pulled Lamb Khichdi and more.

And to bring the evening to life, Absolute Bollywood will be performing live — so expect energy, colour, and more than a little joy.

As we enter the final week of our partnership with , we wanted to take a moment to say thank you 🙏🏻

Throughout February, our dining room has been filled with something even more special than usual, the shared belief that food has the power to bring people together and make a meaningful difference.

Our limited-edition five-course plant-based tasting menu, created in collaboration with the incredible Kinship Kitchen team, has been a celebration of community, flavour and purpose. For every menu enjoyed, 5% has been donated to support Kinship Kitchen’s vital work tackling food poverty across South London, and we’ll be matching the total at the end of the month to double the impact.

There’s still time to join us before the partnership comes to a close. The menu is available at lunch and dinner until Sunday, and every table booked helps support families in our local community.

From today and for the whole month of February, Babur’s usual vegetarian tasting menu makes way for a special five-course plant-based menu in collaboration with non-profit organisation Kinship Kitchen.

At its core, Babur has always been guided by a deep-rooted commitment to our local South East London community. That’s why 5% of the menu price will be donated to Kinship Kitchen and their efforts to tackle food poverty, reduce social isolation, and create spaces where meaningful connections can flourish, and Babur will match the total donation at the end of the month.

We hope you will join us this month to support this wonderful partnership!

Unsurprisingly, it’s taken us a few days to recover from a marvellous Burns Night celebration on Sunday - the first since 2009 and perhaps the best one yet!

The sound of bagpipes sung out through the restaurant (and the streets!), performed by the talented Krishna of the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas, as Chef Jiwan and his team served a sell-out Burns Night supper with complete calm and total precision, reimagining the meal through the lens of India’s forgotten food heritage.

Our wine & spirits expert, Rupam, flexed his knowledge of Indian single malt whiskies, with a beautifully curated flight to accompany Jiwan’s five-course tasting menu.

A dear friend of Babur, Frances, masterfully recited verses from Robert Burns’ ‘Address to a Haggis’ while Chef Jiwan cut the ceremonial haggis, laden with Indian spices (which he later served as the filling of traditional Tibetan dumplings or ‘Haggis Jhol Momo’).

Certainly a night we won’t forget, and one to remember in 2027!
