Sunday 7 June - Botanical Drawing with Edward Luke Thrush
June is the best time of year to enjoy the Rose Garden at Morden Hall Park, and we're shining a spotlight on this historic feature of the park with a botanical drawing workshop.
Join us for a relaxed afternoon in the Rose Garden*, learning how to illustrate the flower's delicate, showy blooms. As you draw, we’ll also explore the stories, symbolism, and ecology of roses, including how plants can be understood through a variety of cultural and historical perspectives.
All are welcome. £30 per ticket. 1pm - 4pm.

Our Community Ranger, Najwa has been working with various young people groups at the National Trust plot on Hadley Road allotments for over a year now. She's been working with them to co-create and design a space, whilst teaching gardening skills, providing access to nature and offering volunteering opportunities.
Come on down to its Open Day on Sat 13 June, where you'll be able to see the plot and purchase the fruits of the labour. There are also free refreshments, a goody bag and seeds to take home and help nature grow. Visit anytime between 2.30pm and 6pm.

June is Pride month and we're getting involved hosting two great events in the park.
Sunday 7 June - Botanical Drawing with Edward Luke Thrush

Sunday 31 May: Join Thames21, our Urban Rangers and creative artist Prachi Gawas for a family-friendly session combining river dipping (no in-water access needed) and collaborative nature art inspired by the river’s wildlife and surroundings.
You'll be creating a colourful art piece to contribute to a large-scale banner that will be displayed in the park. Then have a go at river dipping to discover the incredible mini-creatures living in the Wandle with river dipping activities guided by experts.
Come along, get creative, and connect with your local river! Drop in any time between 10am and 12pm.
All are welcome. All U18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Half term is all about the River Wandle that runs through the park. Come and learn all about the water birds, fish and invertebrates that call the Wandle their home with our Henry the Heron's Riverbank self-led trail.
Follow the sheet and map to discover all the trail points. Lift the flaps to discover more and play with a few extra games along the route. Trail sheets are available from the Garden Centre and cafes.
Finish off your half term at Morden Hall Park. All proceeds help care for the park, keeping it beautiful for everyone, forever.

Community is at the heart of everything we do in the Park. From marching in Merton Pride, hosting our Young Makers Market, to supporting volunteer activities in the park. We work closely with local people to make the park a place for everyone.
We're looking for a Community, Participation and Volunteering Co-ordinator to join our team and help lead this exciting area of our work. If you have experience in volunteer management and partnership working, and a passion for nature and the outdoors, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us in the Rose Garden this weekend for Upstream - new, bold and brilliant puppet theatre from Smoking Apples.
Children will love the striking visual puppetry, dynamic physical theatre and original score. This exciting show explores rivers, pollution and how small actions can make a big difference. At the end, meet the characters and pick up a small gift to take home.
Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May. There are three 30-min performances each day, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the park, including the natural play area and Henry the Heron's Riverbank Trail. Pizza and refreshments available from the Rose Garden kiosk.

This year, we are celebrating this historic part of our garden with a dedicated walk with our Head Gardener, Josh and a chance to study these delightful blooms in detail in our Botanical Drawing workshop.

Come down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Morden Hall Park this weekend and discover the amazing wildlife that calls the park home. Join the team and visiting experts for free hands-on nature activities, wildlife spotting and chances to explore some of the deeper reaches of the park.

May is National Walking Month. So why not join us this Sunday for our next guided history tour of the park.
Our guided tours are an easy walk, and take about 45 minutes. You'll go all around the park, taking a look at the Wandle river, once the most industrialised river in the UK and learn about the s***f milling that happened there. Your information volunteer guide will share stories from the park's early roots to the film star parties held here in the 1940s.
When you're done, why not pop along to the Stableyard or Potting Shed cafe for a drink and a tasty snack?
Tour starts: 11am or 12.30pm from the Visitor Information Point.

There are still spaces available for this lively eco-movement workshop for children on Bank Holiday Monday. Come and meet children’s author and forest school leader Esme Finch for a playful session inspired by the River Wandle and the wildlife that lives within it.
Prices are £13 for one adult and one child, and an extra £7 per additional attendee.

Actors have been cast, and rehearsals are now underway for The Lord Chamberlain's Men's production of Othello, one of Shakespeare's most captivating and thrilling plays. They'll be performing at Morden Hall Park on Wed 1 and Thu 2 July. Tickets are on sale now. See website.

We’re looking for enthusiastic young volunteers aged 13–18 to join us at Hadley Road Community Allotments every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm during school terms.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award, especially the volunteering section.
You’ll help develop a thriving green space enjoyed by local youth groups while gaining valuable experience, boosting your confidence, and learning practical gardening skills.
Tasks include seed sowing, weeding, nature crafts, maintenance, and more.

And just like that, our roses have started to bloom.
A popular place to retreat in late spring and summer months, the Rose Garden at Morden Hall Park is a rare example of an interwar rose garden. It follows an asymmetrical design with a mix of rectangular and curved beds, each planted with a single colour of standard, pillar and climbing roses.
You can pick up a guide to the Rose Garden from the Garden Centre or Secondhand Bookshop for a closer look at the 70+ varieties planted here or check out the information board beyond the S***f Mill Bridge.

**Public Transport:**
1. **By Tube:** Take the Northern Line to Morden Station. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to your destination. Exit the station and head southeast on London Road, then turn left onto Morden Hall Road.
