We create and deliver you nourishment, with passion for kitchen creativity that can heal and holds us through both the everyday and through life’s bigger transitions, when we’re traversing periods and portals of beginnings and ends.

Maternal nourishment is paramount to our wealth (well health). It’s the low hanging fruit to avoiding depletion and increasing our capacity for the constant demands of motherhood.

Mothers deserve to feel nourished. Mothers deserve to be prioritised, as we traverse holding so much, all day, everyday. I’m very excited to announce that all of your support & orders mean we are finally able to bring you weekly deliveries as we grow!

Every Thursday you can have nourishment of the best kind, delivered to your kitchen, UK wide! Healing food and herbal support for life’s changing phases. Most known for our signature Postpartum Meal Packages, we love supporting your nourishment needs in one of the most tender times in a woman’s life. I’ve been there, twice, and know first hand how important nutrient dense and restorative food is after birth… exactly why I started the food doula, nearly 8 years ago!

We also support many of you who are wanting nourishment outside of this life phase, with our Nourish & Restore packages, for anyone needing whole food meals for when life is life-ing, hormones are seeking balance, recovery from illness or operations is needed, or you just want to have healing meals tucked away for needful days, we have got you.

The world can wait for you to emerge. Hold steady in the comfort of home as much as possible. With my first, I was at my favourite brunch spot 2 days after birth, uterus contracting still. I felt so teary on the way home, I was so emotionally and spiritually open and I just knew it was because it was too soon.. all in pursuit of the eggs with the burnt butter hollandaise at Milk in Balham 👁️ (IYKYK). In week one , aside from it feeling full of magic and love…we had far too many visitors — too much emphasis placed on saying yes to people who wanted to see us 😬, rather than actually about settling our baby girl into the world, slowly, steadily, or settling myself after the adrenaline and wildness of our birth on our bed. Second postpartum, I knew to do things differently.

I’d love to hear your experiences of this time and if you stayed hibernated or not? What was the pull out of the nest? If more than one, did your postpartum periods differ due to experience, wisdom and hindsight like mine, or what are your thoughts if you’re awaiting postpartum?

Added extras — when ordering any of the food packages, you can now add extra herbal support, cacaos, jujube red dates, extra herbal tea blends, our Calmful Collection (6 loose Nervine herbs to add to your home apothecary to BYOB … Blend your own botanicals, teas, oxymels, herbal honeys etc). Nervine herbs are a category of herbs that support the nervous system.

Herbal support can also be ordered totally seperate to the food packages. Both as individual products or bundles!

We even have a postpartum herbal mini bar bundle which makes the perfect supportive gift for someone with a new tiny human 🪐 because hydration is a KEY aspect to postpartum healing and making it interesting , and warm is something we are passionate about. You’ve got this, and we’ve got you . Nourishment is a foundational pillar in postpartum healing & recovery.

For a long time, certainly when I launched The Food Doula, 7.5 years ago now, postpartum planning very much took a back seat to the birth plan.

Planning to be supported during this time, is getting a lot more airplay now, because what our culture has been accepting as an adequate approach to postpartum care is finally being flagged as inadequate, and unacceptable for mothers.

Planning to be deeply nourished in postpartum is just one way to ensure you are supporting and kickstarting healing.

Here’s where you can start with preparing to be nourished during postpartum and it’s never too late to start.

🥣Stock your pantry well and gather postpartum supportive foods, herbs and herbal teas.

🥣Batch cook meals and snacks.

🥣 Ask friends and family to make food for your postpartum freezer when they ask you ‘What do you need’?

🥣 At baby showers/mothers blessings or when visiting pregnant/new parent pals - encourage the making of snacks and teas to happen here so mothers go home with postpartum supplies. Or people can be given list of postpartum pantry items to bring (nuts, seeds, nut butters, dried fruits, convenience cooked legumes, pouches of cooked lentils, quinoa, jars of ), dark chocolate, jars of ghee & broth from (use my code FOODDOULA for 10% off) . Or to the event, bring a meal or 5 for mother to go home with!

Food delivered to their doorstep cooked for them. Food cooked by friends when they visited, leaving extra in the freezer, food sent to them by us!

Gifting food not only gifts nourishment, but rest and time, to focus on being still, healing and getting to know your new tiny human! A food hug is the most tender support 🪐

Recent Roundup of work/life blend/integration.

1. Wild Garlic, every.day.

2. Plus daffs for the house.

3. Helped daff picking for the taproom here on the farm, with our treasured farm gang. If you haven’t visited , you must, and you can camp here from May (through the season).

4. Got kids corn cakes, one of the corn cakes on one plate broke, so I had to intentionally break one on the other plate before I delivered them so it was fair/in fear, to avoid sibling snack induced conflict, had to document, for the absurdity of it.

5. Teeny cake making for Easter.

6. A good egg breakfast this morning. Children staying with my sister for 2 nights, it’s very quiet and peaceful here. I miss them but also my nervous system is grateful for the reset and pause. Moments in the sun with food and a book and my uninterrupted thoughts, lovely.

7. Louise Bourgeois book, with notes in from when I was at art school. A reminder that I am an artist, always, we are all artists, always, and life is a tapestry of moments we can choose to make artful and be led with in curiosity, or not.

8. Butter bean, Ricotta & Lemon Smash on sourdough w/ curry leaf ghee tarka. Gosh this was good. Recipe now up in Recipe library on website (link in bio)

9. Cacao and fire. Comfort, yes. Still into moments of wintering. Find cacaos in the shop 🪐

10. Labels, textures, materials, new flyers. Never not developing newness behind the scenes.

11. Homemade kombucha has been one of the best habits I’ve added in this year. A weekly brew and harvest. Making drinking flavourful and adventurous, as a non drinker.

12. Oh, big news… 3 weeks ago, we got a new very very sweet kitten! Been settling him in. His name is Pluto. Piglet, the 5 yo cat, isn’t sold, but slowly slowly they are bonding, ishh.

13. Deliveries are this week (Thursday 9th) so gearing up for sending nourishment to every corner of the uk. To expecting or new mamas, or those of you who are in need of a food hug, just because. A couple of spaces left, you can book a slot now x
