From Victorian grandeur to modern-day Greenwich, the Trafalgar Tavern has seen it all.
In 1857 it was known for its whitebait dinners, part of Greenwich life that brought together political and literary circles, including Charles Dickens. Nearly two centuries on, our story continues on the river.

What people say
The Trafalgar Tavern is a remarkable establishment that beautifully marries history with modern elegance. Built in 1837, this iconic pub has long been a symbol of Britain’s naval prowess and cultural heritage, famously frequented by notable figures such as William Gladstone and Charles Dickens. Nestled within the stunning Greenwich Maritime World Heritage Site, it continues to be one of London’s must-visit public houses.
Recently refurbished, the Trafalgar Tavern showcases breathtaking views of the Thames River through its impressive floor-to-ceiling Regency windows. This creates an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its rich historical background. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to unwind or a vibrant venue for your next event, the Trafalgar Tavern offers versatility and charm.
With options for full and exclusive use during the week or on weekends, it serves as an ideal location for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations. The combination of its picturesque riverside setting and historic significance makes the Trafalgar Tavern not just a pub but a destination where memories are made.
