On this day, 85 Years Ago 🗓️

The Battle of Britain is said to have officially ended. Due to the incalculable efforts of the Pilots, as well as the men and women on the ground supporting them, the Luftwaffe were unable to achieve air superiority ✈️

The 'Official' end of the Battle of Britain is debated. Johnny Kent, Squadron Leader of 92 Squadron, has said in his book, One of the Few:

"Although 31 October was later chosen as the date upon which the Battle of Britain came to an end, we taking part noticed no change when Friday 1 November arrived. It came as no surprise when the telephone orderly stuck his head around the corner and yelled 'Garrick Squadron - scramble base - Angels one five!' and off we went climbing, on fresh orders from the Controller - towards Dover"

The Luftwaffe still continued to launch raids against Great Britain, resorting to indiscriminate, night-time raids, in a campaign known as 'The Blitz'.
