Edible Earth

For this month’s inspiration trip, we visited the Edible Earth exhibition at Somerset House - and it left a lasting impression on us.

The exhibition explored the cultural, historical, and spiritual relationships communities around the world have with eating soil, prompting us to think differently about sustainability, nutrition, and the future of food. 🌍✨

Inspired by what we discovered, we decided to create our own interpretation of the concept. As conversations around macro-focused eating and natural ingredients continue to grow, it raises an interesting question: could soil become part of the future food landscape?

It’s a thought-provoking idea, and one we found impossible to ignore.

From the archives: this World Bee Day, we’re revisiting an old favourite - The Grand Beedapest Hotel 🐝🏨

In 2016, we collaborated with Taylors of Harrogate to create a miniature hotel for bees, inspired by The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The campaign was designed to highlight the essential role bees play in producing the flavours found in fruit and herbal teas, while encouraging people to take action to help protect pollinators and the wider ecosystem.

It remains one of our favourite projects - combining storytelling, craftsmanship, and a meaningful message in one beautifully detailed build. And, of course, creating intricate miniature designs for bees was a joy from start to finish.

Garlic gum was just the beginning… 🌶

One of our featured case studies at this year’s Food & Innovation Forum was the Garlic Gum we created for Papa Johns Pizza - a project that perfectly encapsulates how bold creative thinking can build lasting brand value 🧄

As an example of local implementation, we looked to China for inspiration and asked: what better way to celebrate regional food culture than through gum?

Enter Mala Hotpot.

One of the region’s most iconic flavour experiences, driven by the unmistakable kick of Sichuan peppercorns - delivering a tingling, electric numbness alongside deep heat and intense aroma. Born from necessity, Mala evolved into a cultural phenomenon, and we wanted to reimagine it in an unexpected new format.

From Newcastle to the skies ✈️🥐

Last month, we teamed up with and to take the iconic sausage roll on a global flavour journey. Introducing five bespoke dipping sauces inspired by destinations you can fly to from Newcastle:

🇫🇷 Tangy Tarte Tatin
🇮🇹 Silky Affogato
🇹🇳 Spicy Harissa Ketchup
🇹🇷 Saucy Kebab Mayo
🇪🇸 Snappy Sangria Jam

Each sauce was crafted by reimagining classic flavours from each country, perfectly paired with the nation’s favourite savoury pastry. A tribute to Greggs’ Newcastle roots - now ready for takeoff.

To celebrate, our chef treated the team to something truly special: Magnolia Cookies inspired by the iconic recipe from
These beauties featured magnolia three ways - homemade syrup folded into the dough, finely grated frozen buds for an extra burst of flavour, and delicate syrup-soaked petals tucked into the centre of each cookie before baking. The flowers’ ginger and cardamom notes perfectly balanced the sweetness of the dough, creating a spicy, aromatic flavour combination.

Bespoke labels, curated serviceware, guided audio, and NPC chatbot waiters led guests through a sensory journey, encouraging them to eat and drink their way through the complex, often cynical relationship between humans and AI.
