'Home' is such a funny word - it means so many things. For me as an Irish girl born in London we went 'Home' every summer to the wilds on Mayo; empty beaches, dank bars where we played pool, Holy Wells and endless 'visiting.' And then the rest of the year we lived in Hendon, London. Weird! I went Home permanently to Ireland - well Dublin, - in my 20s when I took a job as editor of Irish Tatler. But soon found out that wasn't really my at all. The Dubs all thought of me as 'that English b—ch!’ But finally I did go back Home to Mayo where I've lived most of my life. But I have learned there are lots of places we can call our Homes. I'm still a bit of a Hendon girl. And I love taking my show AM I IRISH YET back to my London Home The Claddagh Ring. It is always a thrill to hear my audience roar with laughter as we share the wonders of being the wrong sort of Irish kids - born with English accents - forever calling someplace else home.
