Last month, the Welcome Break Charitable Fund launched its HGV Driver Wellness Initiative at Rothwell alongside Mates in Mind, Macmillan Cancer Support and RHA.
The event marked the beginning of an important journey to support wellbeing across the HGV community. It opened up meaningful conversations around both the mental and physical challenges drivers face on the road. Drivers were able to pick up resources and speak with trained mental health first-aiders on the day. The site also offered free hot drinks and fresh fruit, while Krispy Kreme kindly supplied donuts to enjoy and help spark those all-important conversations.
Sadly, HGV drivers are more likely to experience poorer health outcomes, and this initiative is focused on improving access to the right support and resources.
A huge thank you to our partners for their role in bringing both the event and the wider project to life. We are excited to see how the initiative develops and the positive impact it can have on such a vital sector.
HGV drivers play a critical role in keeping the country moving, and it is essential they receive the support they need and deserve.

On Thursday 21st May, the Welcome Break Charitable Fund will be bringing together, Mates in Mind, Macmillan Cancer Support and RHA for the launch of our HGV Driver Wellness Initiative.
HGV drivers play a crucial role, not only in the UK but around the world. Their dedication and time on the road can often come at the expense of both their mental and physical health. The event, which takes places at Rothwell Truckstop, will give drivers access to a range of wellbeing support and resources.
All HGV drivers are welcome to attend between 11am - 3pm to join in the conversation and grab a free hot drink, fruit and Krispy Kreme donut.
Together, we’re promoting the importance of regular check-ins and check-ups 💚

Located just off the M25 motorway at Junction 23, this popular fast food restaurant and coffee shop is easily accessible by car. If you are driving, follow the M25 and take the exit at Junction 23 to reach the nearby service area.
Alternatively, if you are using public transport, there is a bus stop located near the entrance of the service area which can be reached by taking bus number 724. The nearest train station is South Mimms, which is approximately a 10-minute drive away from the service area.
There is ample parking available on site with designated parking spaces for disabled visitors. However, please note that parking fees apply and vary depending on the duration of your stay.
