People report better taste and texture (firmness).

Small short-term studies suggest improved fertility in women and s***m count in men.

Some studies showed that organic crops had higher concentrations of a range of antioxidants such as polyphenolics compared to conventional crops (but one needs to consider other factors such as area, season and crop rotation).

Larger observational studies have shown a positive connection between consumption of organic food and fertility, s***m count, allergies in children, and metabolic syndrome, reduction in overweight and obesity โ€“ but we have to keep in mind that people who consume organic foods are in general more likely following a healthier lifestyle.

Beetroot: a good source of fibre, potassium and also antioxidants (betalain) which may help to protect you against cell damage โ€“ and which also give beetroot their vibrant colour.

You can enjoy them raw as salad and in smoothies, or you can boil, steam or roast them, and also enjoy pickled beets.

Beetroot goes well with goats cheese. When making a smoothie they pair well with pears, apple, or celery.

The tops / leaves are also edible and full of nutrients.

Strawberries and lemons are good sources of vitamin C ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‹

Vitamin C protects you from infections by keeping your immune system healthy.

Water-soluble vitamins are stored in the body in very limited amounts, and are excreted through urine.

Therefore, it is a good idea to include them in your daily diet.

Share Fresh is an amazing opportunity for you to feel better on a personal level thanks to good nutrition, but you will also feel good as a result of knowing that youโ€™ve contributed towards making a donation of the same goodies to someone else in our community who isnโ€™t as fortunate.

On our website we have a section called โ€œRegister for Helpโ€. Here, anybody in genuine need of fresh food, can come and enter their details, and we take care of the rest. We box up a great selection of fruit and veg and we deliver it straight to their door โ€“ fresh, tasty, free.

Iโ€™m not saying we can change the world with a box of broccoli, but itโ€™s surely a step in the right direction.

This is a recipe weโ€™ve all been waiting for.

The main ingredients are asparagus, garlic, sesame seeds and cherry tomatoes. All ready? Then letโ€™s begin!

Itโ€™s great to cook like a chef! If you need help with the ingredients, weโ€™re here โ€“ count on us for our boxes of organic vegetables. Just place your order!

RECIPE

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Serves 2
Difficulty rating: Easy

Ingredients

10-14 spears of asparagus
6 cherry tomatoes ๐Ÿ…
Olive oil + pinch of salt ๐Ÿง‚
50g of toasted sesame seeds

For the Garlic sauce ๐Ÿง„

2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons of double cream (can use yogurt instead)
1 tablespoon of white wine or cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon water
A pinch of salt

Method ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ

Trim the lower woody parts of the spears and peel off any darker skin from the asparagus spears, and tie them together with string - we do this because they will cook at the same time, and the tips wonโ€™t damage during the boiling. If youโ€™re cooking a lot, separate the spears into batches of 6-7 before cooking.

Stand the asparagus bundles in a tall saucepan filled with salted boiling simmering water for about 3 to 4 minutes. Check them after 3 minutes โ€“ push the knife into the pulp of asparagus, and if you do meet get any resistance, and they are done. If not, leave them for an additional minute and check again.

Crush the sesame seeds in a mortar or in a blender.

Cut the cherry tomatoes in halves or quarters, mix them with 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt (you can also use a whole tomato, finely diced instead of the cherry tomatoes).

For the garlic sauce, in a mortar or blender, crush the peeled garlic cloves with a pinch of salt until you get a creamy consistency. Add the vinegar, mix for one minute, add the olive oil, mix 1 minute, add water, mix 10 seconds and at the end add the double cream, mix well and the sauce is done.

Time to serve ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

On a plate, add the asparagus, put tomatoes on the side, close to tomatoes add garlic sauce and sprinkle sesame crumble on top of the asparagus. Drizzle with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and enjoy this tasty recipe.

Enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Asparagus is a rich source of folate - also known as folic acid or vitamin B9. Folate is essential in cell development; it helps in making red blood cells and preventing anaemia.

If you often feel tired, it might be because you are not getting enough folate โ€“ other sources are green leafy vegetables but also dried beans, peas and lentils, and seeds such as flax and sunflower seeds.

There are many ways to eat asparagus. You can serve it hot, cold, raw, or cooked. Mix it into soups, salads, casseroles, and stir-fries, or just simply serve it on its own!

Asparagus is in season now, and our Veg Box this month brings fresh and organic asparagus right to your door. Read the full article on our blog. Link Bio or click here https://swiy.io/4Kws
