We’re having a pay what you can day alongside the Brixton Community Clean-Up on Sunday 7 June ✨

The first clean-up in March was a brilliant example of local people coming together with real energy and pride in where we live - litter picking and caring for our streets and green spaces. This time we'll be opening up the café as a space to pause, connect, and refuel 💚

We’ll be open 11:30am–3pm, and you can pay what feels right for you for everything on our menu.

If you’re able to pay a little more, it helps support the café and means we can keep it accessible for others in our community who might need it.

See you there!

Helena is leaving The Platform Café after nearly four wonderful years with us.

She has been a hugely valued member of the team - starting as a barista and growing into our Youth Employability Coordinator. Helena has brought warmth, kindness, patience and a calm, steady presence to the café every single day.

She has supported so many young people on their journeys into work, always with care, encouragement and genuine belief in each person she works with.

She’s also been at the heart of creating the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that makes this café such a special community space 💚

Thank you for everything Helena 🙏

We’ll be sad to say goodbye to our long-standing neighbour Ray Sunshine International Arts, who’s been a friend of the café since the very beginning 💚

It’s been a real joy having him as a regular and collaborating on so many brilliant projects over the years - from carnival arts workshops at Grove Adventure Playground, to a Trinidadian cook-up and celebration at Loughborough Farm, and developing culturally appropriate recipes to support sleep health as part of the ‘Night Club’ work with Liminal Space, supporting NHS and transport night shift workers.

Our very first winter market also took place in the arches that have since hosted Loughborough Junction Action Group’s meetings, AGMs and countless community events - so it really does feel like the end of an era.

We’re looking forward to continuing to work together as part of First Five Lambeth, and of course as friends.

We’ll be coming along to Out of De Alleyway’s final exhibition on 29 & 30 April - head over to Sunshine International Arts for more details.

Such a lovely day being part of the Brixton Community Clean-Up 💚

We were out in Loughborough Junction with volunteers litter-picking, chatting, and taking care of the spaces we share - a small thing that really adds up when people come together.

The day was led by brilliant young people from YPM and RAE Academy, with teams working across Brixton before everyone gathered in Windrush Square.

We rounded it off with music, poetry, and speeches from local MPs Helen Hayes and John-Paul Ennis, plus a few words from poster artist Alistair.

Big thank you to everyone who showed up and got involved ✨
