WORTH THE WAIT.
This most incredible, and incredibly long, tapestry (which is, pedants rejoice, technically an embroidery) contains rather more than battle. There are ships being built and seas crossed, horses and hunting, messengers and meetings, omens in the sky and, of particular interest to us, some very good feasting. Bread is broken, wine is poured and an entire banquet appears to be underway before anyone gets down to the serious business of conquering England.
There may be a very long queue to see this very long tapestry, but it is worth the wait. And by the time you’ve made it to the actual battle, you may be in need of a very long drink. Or a very long lunch. Or both.
Fortunately, we are only a short walk away. Where the wait for a drink will also be short. Book your table.

FRUIT FOREVER.
Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and pear under a fluffy hat of Chantilly cream with crisp shards of meringue. The sharp, sweet, sheer pleasure of high season fruit. A better way to five a day.

MUST BE TRIED.
Honey Grilled Figs, Wild Rocket, Goat’s Cheese & Walnuts. The best figs, roasted for intense, jammy sweetness and glazed with honey. With goats cheese grilled to golden and bubbling, caramalised pecans for a bittersweet crunch, all perched on a bed of peppery rocket. Pre-theatre or long lunch, this one’s ready either way. Book your table before curtain up.
Our chef Michale put it best: must be tried. Fresh figs are only around for a short window, so get in before they’re gone. Pre-theatre or long lunch, this one’s ready either way.

PILE IN.
Grilled Sardines with Aioli on Toast. Cornish sardines, butterflied and grilled over charcoal until the skin catches. Piled onto sourdough with a generous slather of aioli, togarashi for heat, red radish for bright crunch, scattered and scented with dill and parsley.
A starter that calls for sunshine, a cold glass of something, and no cutlery at all.

GIN PUT TO GOOD USE.
Trout cured overnight in Beefeater gin, salt, sugar and lemon juice until the flesh turns silken and perfumed, then plated with nectarine and daikon for a clean, crunchy contrast. Horseradish cream, olive oil and a dusting of sumac to finish.
On the menu now for lunch and pre-theatre.

CLICK & COLLECT
The office can wait. The Strand will not judge you. St Paul’s churchyard has seen stranger things. And if you time it right, Waterloo Bridge at golden hour with a Portland Crab Toast in hand is, frankly, a better evening than most.
Cora Pearl’s Click & Collect is live for summer. Gin-cured sea trout, almond gazpacho, wild stone bass with pine nuts and mint, minute steak with oregano butter.

ORDER YOUR OWN. You have been warned.
Peach Melba. A Saturn peach, poached until it gives, raspberry ripple ice cream, chantilly, coulis, freeze-dried raspberries.
Named after Nellie Melba, the Australian soprano who sang at the Royal Opera House just around the corner from Cora Pearl. Escoffier created it for her at the Savoy. She probably didn’t share hers either.
