This month’s coffee takes us to the highlands of Rutsiro, Rwanda,
Grown by smallholder farmers on the hills surrounding Lake Kivu, this coffee benefits from the region’s high altitudes and rich volcanic soils, which contribute to its silky texture and fruity character.
The results is a beautifully light and delicate drinking experience, with fragrant notes of Earl Grey, bright citrus acidity, and a smooth brown sugar sweetness. The perfect all-day drinker.

Day 3: From Brixton to Brazil 🇧🇷
Day three at Mió brought everything into focus – harvest, regeneration, and the long game behind coffee.
We started in the fields with the harvesters, seeing how coffee is picked at scale. Not the romantic hand-picking image, but a precise, well-managed process balancing efficiency and quality.
Then onto the compost site, where coffee pulp and organic matter are returned to the farm as nutrient-rich fertiliser. Nothing wasted.
Next stop was Santa Irene – once cattle pasture, now a thriving coffee landscape. A clear example of regeneration in action.
We also visited Carlos’ favourite spot on the estate – home to one of the oldest trees on the farm, with incredible biodiversity and fungi thriving around it.
We ended the day watching the sunset across the farmland, beer in hand, talking through how everything connects – from harvest to soil, and back again.

Summer holidays are fast approaching, and if you’re 16–21 and thinking about getting a part-time café job, this is a pretty solid way to start.
We’re running Student Barista Classes at our Brixton roastery this summer.
A 2.5 hour, hands-on intro to real espresso machines, led by our expert baristas. You’ll learn what actually happens behind the bar — how to pull shots, texture milk, and start building confidence in a proper café setup.
You’ll leave with a Certificate of Completion and a bit more confidence for when you’re next in front of a café manager.
Book your place via the link in bio.

Haven’t made plans for this Saturday yet?
We’ve got you.
Open DOOR is back at our Brixton roastery, and we’re kicking things off from 9am.
BRITA, Oatly and Sage will all be in the space, come play with the kit, taste what’s pouring, and get stuck into summer coffees, cold brew and a few cool treats along the way.
And if you find something you love, you’ll be able to pick up the full summer range of coffees to take home.
We’ll also have prizes and competitions to get involved with, including our favourite “Guess the beans” with cash vouchers, merch and more up for grabs.
Doors open from 9am, we’ll see you there.

From Brixton to Brazil 🇧🇷
Day two was all about flavour.
We kicked things off with Fabi, cupping 18 coffees from different plots across the farm and exploring the sensory characteristics that make each one unique. Same estate, completely different flavour experiences.
Then it was onto the mill to see what happens after harvest — from patios and raised beds to the wet mill and fermentation tanks.
The afternoon was spent with Professor Lucas, learning how producers use processing and fermentation to get the very best from each coffee. From preserving quality to enhancing flavour, every decision made after harvest has the potential to shape the final cup.

the.arccafe turned one 🎉
We celebrated the only way we know how… espresso martinis in hand.
What started as a neighbourhood coffee spot on St Paul Street has grown into a proper community hub, powered by Eliška and Lucie, a duo with endless energy and a real love for the space they’ve built.
Proudly serving our House Brazil, The Arc Cafe continues to be a place for slow mornings, post-yoga flat whites, and everything in between.
And as they step into year two, they’re now open for wine nights every Friday and Saturday from 7pm, the perfect excuse to stay a little longer.

Day 1: From Brixton to Brazil 🇧🇷
First stop - The Sombra Project.
We spent the day with Ana and Carlos walking through coffee plots planted alongside cedar and guapuruvu trees, learning how shade helps coffee thrive while supporting biodiversity across the farm.
There was plenty of talk about soil health, moisture retention and ecosystem management. There was also a lot of crouching down to look at dirt.
The day finished in the rainforest, following natural springs through native forest and seeing how it all connects back to coffee production.
One thing we took away from day one? Great coffee starts long before harvest.
