Here's a story.
Before I opened In August 2009, James Hoffmann said to me, 'just aim to be the best coffee shop in your area'. It was superb advice, because the majority of your customers will come from the local area.
But in February 2010, we were awarded 'Best Independent Coffee Shop Europe' at the European Coffee Symposium.
So then our goal shifted and became a SMART sentence for our mission statement & leads into our standards and core values.
'Kaffeine will always be recognised by the media, the public & the industry as one of the leading cafes in the UK.'
17 years later, this is still our goal, and as I say to anyone who applies for a job here, we do this for my Mum back home, my wife & 2 children, all our customers and most importantly for you, so that you can say you work at one of the best cafes in the UK.
We don't want to be 'THE best' but are happy to be regarded as one of.
If you want to vote for us, to help continue this legacy for the 100 best coffee shops in thr world, please check the link in bio.

A reminder of where we are.
This table is from a Google search for VAT Rates in Europe.
The campaign to have VAT reduced to either be in Line wth Europe, or just at a flat rate 10% for hospitality is about to hit new levels.
The council elections this week will help define where we go in the next six months and possible outcomes.
This fight is not over yet.
A reminder that we ALL pay 20% tax to go out & enjoy ourselves while other countries pay significantly less.
Respect to & , John Richardson, and .together for all the work trying to raise awareness.
The more you follow, the more you will know. Make sure you know.

Wishing one of our favourite staff members Nikki all the best as she travels back to NZ to apply for her spousal visa to be able to return back to the UK.
Nikki is also proudly wearing the workwear shirt that they provided to us recently, with the embroidered Kaffeine logo on front and back.
Look out for our new merchandise range launching soon, with new t-shirts, new design tote bags (still the same bag) & possibly, Pexwear Kaffeine workwear shirts.
Bye Nikki, wishing you safe travels, wear your shirt with pride back in NZ.

Inside the mind and life of a coffee shop owner
Saturday morning emergency call out - ‘Peter the sink in the kitchen is blocked!’
So along with my son Christian we came in and pulled up the manhole, got our trusty rods out from storage & within 5 minutes had the pipes unblocked.
Our usual plumbers are the legends ask for Chris, tell them Kaffeine recommended you.
But being able to do this yourself is massively satisfying though.

Vote for your favourite coffee shop!!! You have until April 10th.
No seriously vote for somebody. Vote for your favourite coffee shop in the UK whoever they are. If it’s us, that’s amazing & much appreciated. If not, that’s okay as long as you please vote for somebody.
This then leads onto the shortlist to the Worlds best coffee shops.
This is a fantastic opportunity to have your favourite coffee shop recognised. It’s also a magical way to support independent businesses.
Vote today, check the link in our bio or just go to the website.

The government are saying they are reducing the cost of living by putting more money in our/your pockets through wage increases.
This is not true.
Simply because the things (coffee, pints, roast dinners etc) that we ALL pay for, help to pay those wages, so when wages increase the cost of things (pints, coffee, roast dinners etc) that we buy need to increase.
Or if the prices don’t increase, the business simply runs out of money & closes.
The supplier of those things (pints, coffee, roast dinners etc) simply has to be able to find a way to pay the increased wages BUT what is MASSIVELY important is that when a minimum wage earner gets an increase, then it’s only fair, reasonable & logical that everyone in higher positions ABOVE should get a pay rise too. So let’s say min wage increases by 6%, then everyone should get a 6% increase. Otherwise what happens (& is happening) is that lower paid workers end up getting paid very close to those in higher positions, maybe just 30 or 50 p more per hour.
I’m all for higher wages, I’m not for higher prices for things we just want to go out & enjoy. I want to go out & enjoy them too.
The ONLY solution therefore is to reduce the tax burden, reduce VAT to be in line with Europe. Allow for more cash to flow into the business & into the pockets of workers & the businesses to allow for investment, growth and reasonable directors dividends instead of into HMRC.
And for all those outside of London. Yes £14.80 is the recommended London minimum wage.

What people say
Kaffeine, located on Eastcastle Street in London, is a coffee shop that has been open since March 2015. It is perfectly situated just one street back from Oxford Street, making it easily accessible for those looking for a great cup of coffee. The cafe boasts an impressive 3 group Cyncra machine that has been on the bar ever since they upgraded to it within two years of opening. This machine has produced countless cups of coffee and helped many baristas develop their craft.
Kaffeine's brunch menu is served until 2:45 pm each day and includes delicious options such as avocado on toast - a dish that has become a staple in many cafes but was originally made by the owner's mother over 40 years ago! The cafe prides itself on standing out from the crowd and being one of the leading cafes not only in London but also in the UK and Europe. Their mission statement is to always be regarded as one of the best cafes in the UK by the media.
Overall, Kaffeine is a must-visit coffee shop for anyone looking for exceptional coffee and delicious brunch options. With its prime location, impressive equipment, and dedication to excellence, it's no wonder why Kaffeine continues to stand out after 13 years in business.
