Inside the Mind of a Coffee Shop owner.

Introducing the Blackboard of Knowledge- our longest standing employee at Kaffeine who basically stands outside all day every day for the past 17 years & just needs a fresh coat of paint every so often.

Inspired by blackboards outside venues in Melbourne when I was growing up, for years we used to write funny coffee sayings on there such as ‘jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of coffee’ or ‘I’ll make him a coffee he can’t refuse’.

One day I wrote ‘she’s got a smile that seems to me reminds me of childhood memories’ and a regular customer came in and said ‘omg I am going to have that song in my head all day now.’

So I thought, let’s do this all the time.

So each week we choose an artist and each day the manager chooses a song lyric by that artist and we write it on the board.

You might read it and go ‘oh that’s a nice saying, no idea what it means’, or you might recognise that song and get it stuck in your head all day too.

Or you every time you come past the shop you will challenge yourself to work out who the artist is by looking at the blackboard.

It’s just one of the many small details, the 1%’s that we focus on here at Kaffeine.

Tuesday June 9th
Number 11 Downing Street (and number 10)
London Tech Week
Enterprise Nation partners invited myself, & others to Number 11 Downing Street to help push AI technology with SME businesses.

I got there 30 minutes early and they let me in & I asked the security man on the gate ‘where do I go’ and he says ‘go to number 10, ring the doorbell, tell them what you’re here for and they will direct you’.

SO I DID!!!!

And the person who opened the door says ‘yes can I help you?’ And I say ‘I’m here for number 11’ and he goes ‘that’s next door sir…’

OMG it was so funny.

Then I go to number 11 and ring the doorbell there and they let me in.

We had to leave our phones at front desk, so no photos, but I’ll post a full report on the night later today or tomorrow. Look out for it.

But it was a very funny night….

Kaffeine, located on Eastcastle Street in London, is a coffee shop that has been open since March 2015. It is perfectly situated just one street back from Oxford Street, making it easily accessible for those looking for a great cup of coffee. The cafe boasts an impressive 3 group Cyncra machine that has been on the bar ever since they upgraded to it within two years of opening. This machine has produced countless cups of coffee and helped many baristas develop their craft.

Kaffeine's brunch menu is served until 2:45 pm each day and includes delicious options such as avocado on toast - a dish that has become a staple in many cafes but was originally made by the owner's mother over 40 years ago! The cafe prides itself on standing out from the crowd and being one of the leading cafes not only in London but also in the UK and Europe. Their mission statement is to always be regarded as one of the best cafes in the UK by the media.
