Back-to-school routines are calling… and if bedtime, wake-up time and mealtimes have gone completely out the window over the summer holidays, you’re definitely not alone! 😅
As you’re getting everyone back into a bit more of a routine, it’s worth thinking about how what’s on their plate can support better sleep too. Lucy Upton, our in-house Lucy Upton 🍓 Children’s Dietitian & Feeding Specialist, shares the types of food that can support your tot’s sleep… 💤
🫘 Tryptophan-rich foods such as grains, nuts and seeds, meats, legumes, fish and dairy. Tryptophan is well recognised to support the production of the hormone that helps us all fall asleep – melatonin!
🥬 Magnesium-rich foods such as leafy green veggies, legumes, whole grains and even fortified cereals. Magnesium is another key nutrient that has a role in relaxation and restful sleep.

Oh, the humble pea... Such an overlooked and underrated vegetable! 💚
Don’t let their small size fool you; a 40g portion of peas contains about 10% of a toddler’s daily iron requirement 💪🏼
Plus, serving peas is a great way of getting the benefits of green veg into children who may not be keen on the likes of broccoli or kale 🥦🥬
Is your tot a fan of peas?

It’s blackberry season! Lucy Upton, our resident Lucy Upton 🍓 Children’s Dietitian & Feeding Specialist, explains why blackberries are one of the most underrated berries out there for your tot:
💜 A 50g portion provides nearly 3g of fibre - around a fifth of a toddler’s daily requirement
☀️ They can provide up to a third of a toddler’s vitamin C needs
🧠 Their deep purple colour comes from anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that have been linked with memory and cognitive function
🌹One final fun fact… Blackberries are part of the rose family!
If you’ve picked more blackberries than you know what to do with, take a look at one of our latest reels for a blackberry ice lolly recipe!

What people say
Pots for Tots, located on Ferndale Road in London, is a fantastic food delivery service that caters specifically to parents with young children. Their home-made meals are not only delicious but also nutritious, making them the perfect option for busy parents who want to ensure their children are eating well.
One of the most exciting things about Pots for Tots is their brand new packaging. The new sleeves not only make the pots look amazing but also include all the ingredients and cooking instructions, making it easier than ever to prepare a healthy meal for your little ones. While the transition to the new packaging may take a few weeks, Pots for Tots has made sure that customers can still access all the necessary information through their order fulfilment email.
Another great thing about Pots for Tots is their commitment to exposing children to new foods. Their Chicken Fricassee dish is a prime example of this - even if your child doesn't like mushrooms or cabbage, they might be surprised by how much they enjoy this meal. Pots for Tots' dietician recommends exposing children to new foods by letting them see it, smell it and interact with it before trying it out. And if your child is hesitant to try something new, why not try putting the whole meal inside a tortilla wrap? This gives them a chance to explore new flavours in a way that they might be more comfortable with.
Overall, Pots for Tots is an excellent food delivery service that provides nutritious and delicious meals for parents with young children. With their brand new packaging and commitment to exposing children to new foods, Pots for Tots is definitely worth checking out!
