today we're sending love & good luck to our chef ailsa. she started with us in august last year, walking into the café having just moved back to london asking for a job just when we needed another chef in the team. hands down the best smile on our roster. she's running the hackney half marathon on sunday, raising money for parkinson's. if anyone has anything to give, the donation link is in our bio.
we'll be open all weekend as usual, ready to refuel anyone taking part in the marathon. so come on down & eat with us & congratulate ailsa who we'll be celebrating.
big love 💕

As we get ready for winter to get out of town, and spring to arrive, changes are being made at the café. New dishes are in the lab and new beans have arrived. From today onward, we will be making coffee from roasters , bringing to a close a joyous and fruitful partnership with Mission Coffee Works, almost since the café first opened its doors ☕
We are very excited for the things coming up. The two March events: the Iftar 20/3 and the Hall Party 30/3. Tickets are selling fast, clink on the link in our bio to get yours while you can 🔗

This January, or Veganuary for anyone that worships, will be the last month our Vegan Parm Burger/Tofu Burger will be available at the café.
One of the OG items I brought with me when I started January 2023. Developed a nice cult following and one of the dishes that non-negotiably comes with the house Thingy sauce.
I'll be sad to see it go, but come and order and eat as many as we can serve these last eleven days.

What people say
Thingy People, located on Trowbridge Road in Hackney Wick, is a hidden gem of a coffee shop that offers so much more than just great coffee. With its East London vibes, music, and art, it's the perfect spot to relax, work, meet friends or read a book. The highlight of this café is its beautiful hidden garden which provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The café also hosts regular events such as gigs with amazing DJs for an ambient evening. The upcoming event on Sunday 2nd July promises to be an endless summer's eve of vinyl therapy lovingly hosted by Lil’ Cam (FLOW) and Laurel Canyon (ulna parti), with guests Giorja and Laurenzo G (Selective Work) and Wat Tyler (FLOW). As the sun gently sets across the leafy patio, we'll wander through earthy psych, expansive trance, warm ambient, jazz, softrock and much more.
Thingy People also caters to vegans with their delicious Tofu Burger which comes with vegan parmesan and herb crusted tofu, grilled mushrooms and peppers served with crisps and Thingy sauce. The café has something for everyone including speciality coffee, herbal teas, beers, cocktails, bakes and more at the bar.
Overall Thingy People is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique experience in East London.
